Question by Karless: would removing chlorine from drinking water by using a filter, reduce the symptoms of IBS?
IBS stands for irritable bowel syndrome

IBS is not caused by chlorine in the water. It is caused by an imbalance of the fluids secreted in your intestine. When there is diarrhea your body is letting go too much water and when you are constipated your body is not letting go enough water. The best thing believe it or not is fiber for IBS symptoms. The fiber binds to the water in diarrhea and it also helps with constipation. Also IBS is a long time problem for those that suffer from it. It is not a one time episode. Good luck.

Question by The Original GarnetGlitter: Is Anyone Using Hyoscyamine For Bowel Spasms?
Just saw my gastro-enterologist and based on my CT scan(normal) blood work(normal) and recent colonoscopy (showed diverticulosis, nothing else) and symptoms has prescribed Hyomax (hyoscyamine). Now Iinitially I thought the bout of diverticulitis I had/was treated for early Dec had returned but it hadn’t. (there was infection & I required hospitalization and IV antibiotics, then oral meds after discharged) It has been over 5 weeks since the diverticulitis episode, finished the antibiotics for it 4 weeks ago…it has not returned.

He is leaning toward possible irritable bowel syndrome with either a food or stress trigger (or both) but won’t commit to the dx just yet. I return to see him in 4 weeks.

So is anyone using Hyomax/hyoscyamine for the relief of bowel spasms? How is it working for you-have you noticed any of the possible side effects, and if you don’t mind, please state what you are taking it for and how effective has it been in controlling your symptoms. How long after starting it did you get relief…

Thanks to all who answer.
I’m on the once a day in the morning tablet (pastel green) if I notice minor vision bluring but can still focus, or mild urine retension he wants me to try 1/2 tablet unless I feel it’s too troublesome-then I am to call him.
I’m hoping this is a possible temporary ‘backlash from all the iv anti-biotics and oral anti-biotics I was on, first for cellulitis (at Halloween time) and then the day after Thanksgiving(diverticulitis with a small pocket of infection)…counting the 2 different iv meds, SIX different antibiotics in strong doses within a six week period….2 months of H@LL…and the last set of meds for the diverticulitis caused diarrhea-lovely….seemed to ease up after meds were finished but then…..and any of them can backlash weeks after you stop taking the meds….what fun.

Yes, I am aware of the downside of teens using this product. But after trying Dermatologists, Proactive, Probiotics – in short – everything I can think of, my 15 year old son is very upset over his cystic acne.

Does Accutane work on someone this young or are his hormones going too crazy at this point for anything to work?

Obviously if he started showing symptoms of depression while taking this I would stop the treatment immediately.

We have a doc appointment on Thursday and I plan on asking the doc but I wondered if probiotics would be safe to help my 2.5 month old with his tummy/gas trouble or is he too young? Anyone have any experience with this, if so what did you use? Thanks!
unfortuneatly I’m not breastfeeding :( My son started teething basically at birth and after a month of trying our best we stopped. I still get upset about it..anyway..

I am searching on line and in books and finding contradicting information. I have read that garlic (fresh), fresh juiced carrots (not store purchased juic), grape seed extract, olive leaf extract and something called pau d’arco help eliminate and then I have to take probiotics not to mention a “candida diet”- can’t find consistent info on what a good candida diet would even be…. help!
