Question by Hammie: I get tired of these pains… what can they be?
A few years ago at school, I got a really bad cramp in my stomach that meant I had to sit of out of PE (which made me happy! woohoo!!!) but I didn’t think anything of it. It wasn’t period pains because back then I hadn’t even started my periods. Then a few years later I was bent down, then I stood up and I got the pain again. I managed to walk inside and to my bedroom where it became a seriously painful cramp that made me cry, shake and sweat. I went to the doctors and they said it was IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) which the doctor said was caused by dairy products, but the thing is I never have any of the other symptoms, it hurts whether I have dairy products or not!

The pains happened again before christmas when I was at college, which got my friend concerned because when i tried to lift things it hurt. So I tootled back to the doctors, and she said that I had pulled a muscle that time! But I get tired of these pains, they can come on for no reason. I even got the pain when I was walking the dog!!!!!!

The pain is always on my left hand side, and sometimes comes and goes quickly but sometimes it lingers. I am convinced it isn’t IBS, because like I said it can come on for no reason, and also I’m sure a pulled muscle wouldn’t hurt for this long!!!!!

Shall I go to another doctor, or isn’t it worth it?
These pains annoy me because I don’t know how they start and how to stop them, I am worried it will affect my college work (Which is animal care, so it is a physical course)
Thanks for that taco, but judging by your diagnosis I should be dead by now, interesting!!

Hope you are not planning to become a doctor!

Hi, this sounds like a rare case I have seen once before. It’s a case of Tazmanian Parasites. At year two you will notice blood in the stool and vomit. Shortly after your eyes and fingernails will turn yellow with jaundice. Later, you will turn into an umbrella.

Question by 2010 FYRE & REIGN: I have 3 dogs, they all eat the same foods but one’s poop smells FAR worse than the other 2 dogs; why?
It seems like a weird thing but since I’m the one doing poop duty in the yard, I know. He otherwise seems VERY healthy. Should I get him some probiotics or something? Or is it just something I need to live with?

Dogs are individuals. Each dog may respond differently. I’ve heard of many cases where each dog had their own food. You may want to consider changing his diet, he may have a sensitive stomach or it could be the age. Or it could be possible he’s taking in more foreign objects that you may not see.

Question by JJ: Can one take quest acidophiles plus, if they are taking an acid reflux prescription?
I was told at the health shop it was ok to take the probiotic Quest acidophilus plus, even though I am taking an acid reflux prescription, started them yesterday, taking them after food, having a little acid reflux problem this morning, I did try a none caffine herbal tea last night, which I never had before, so not to sure what caused it but was wondering if anyone has had side effects, from taking probiotics and acid reflux prescription

The health shop is not qualified to tell you anything. Check with your gastroenterologist first. I have two hiatal hernias and do not hesitate to ask questions. It can save you a lot of trouble.

Question by Jessica: My son is 17 months and a natural doctor wants him to take probiotics. Are they ok for little ones?
He got a double dose of immunizations (because he missed a dose), and he’s been running a low grade fever on and off even though the shots were given over 2 weeks ago.
I heard taking alot of pills can damage your kidneys, does that apply to natural pills too and will it affect him?
Wow! You guys have been a great help. Thank you so much. My mom raised me to be skeptical about all “natural” things So I’m trying to break that teaching and not be afraid to keep my son healthy
