The pains happened again before christmas when I was at college, which got my friend concerned because when i tried to lift things it hurt. So I tootled back to the doctors, and she said that I had pulled a muscle that time! But I get tired of these pains, they can come on for no reason. I even got the pain when I was walking the dog!!!!!!

The pain is always on my left hand side, and sometimes comes and goes quickly but sometimes it lingers. I am convinced it isn’t IBS, because like I said it can come on for no reason, and also I’m sure a pulled muscle wouldn’t hurt for this long!!!!!

Shall I go to another doctor, or isn’t it worth it?
These pains annoy me because I don’t know how they start and how to stop them, I am worried it will affect my college work (Which is animal care, so it is a physical course)

Hi, this sounds like a rare case I have seen once before. It’s a case of Tazmanian Parasites. At year two you will notice blood in the stool and vomit. Shortly after your eyes and fingernails will turn yellow with jaundice. Later, you will turn into an umbrella.

That’s quite a list of side effects. If they’re badly affecting your life, then do speak to your doctor. There are many antidepressants out there, and I’m sure you can find one with fewer side effects (for you) than that.

All except two and four i have had either personal experience with …… either myself or a direct relative or friend ….. so that would be a resounding YeS from me …….. although i don’t adhere to the take this pill and that tablet routine to “bandaid” your symptoms routine …. i would prefer to start researching and analysing diet and lifestyle … and things like chemical intolerances and or allergies ……. ;0).

Oh.

And i also think that many of them are simply “labels” that have been made up in lieu of the fact that nobody in western medicine can work out what is wrong ……. for example “IBS” imho is simply a bs label for a collection of unaddressed food and or chemical intolerances….. SAD (seasonal affective disorder) improves miraculously when the patient is exposed to regular safe sun exposure on a daily basis … restless leg syndrome usually resolves nicely when magnesium and vitamin B6 are present in the body in adequate amounts…… the medicine usually given to alleviate “restless leg syndrome” paradoxically reduces pain – if you are lucky – but actually produces more pain when the toxic affects wear off …. because the meds trash calcium and calcium is needed for effective B6 and mgnesium assimilation in the body …… so yeah…. that’s what i mean in a nutshell.

Yes. Most of them. And restless leg syndrome is NOT funny when the person you love has it. It makes sleeping incredibly difficult for both of you.

I am in my mid-20’s and these symptoms have been occurring since my mid to late teens. My mother and sister also experience them but not nearly to the severity that I do. I mentioned everything to my doctor and he said that I likely have Irritable Bowel Syndrome and left it at that. My symptoms vary in severity, I can go through a month where I have diarrhea every day and then a month where it is rare.

I AM going to bring this up again with my doctor and push to have it looked into but in the mean time I am curious of other opinions? It this just IBS in your opinion, what about lactose sensitivity, crohns, celiac? Anyone want to offer their input?

And please…no responses saying “Go get that looked at” that is already the plan.

Hi Jessica, the bad thing with these symptoms can be narrowing it down to a definite diagnosis, since these are symptoms of quite a few intestinal disorders. Start a journal and write down both what you eat and all your symptoms after eating. This will be useful to take to the doctor. Also google “allergy elimination diet” and give that a try. Stick with it even though it might be tough, but it will be worth it. I’m betting you have lactose intolerance, I think that’s the most common food issue there is.

I had similar troubles once, and it turned out I had ovarian cancer! I’m not trying to scare you, I’m just saying women especially should never ignore symptoms like these. But don’t worry over it, since it runs in your family, I really think it’s a food issue in your case.

How to Get Rid of Thrush
Thrush is caused by an overgrowth of Candida Albicans and while it is not a serious condition, it can cause a lot of discomfort. As well as seeking help from your doctor and treating yourself with over the counter medicines, there are many things you can do to help yourself at home.
Steps:
Keep the affected area clean by washing with plain water. Avoid using soaps, shower and bath gels and deodorants.
Avoid using spermicidal creams, lubricants and latex condoms if suffering from vaginal thrush.
Wear natural fibres and keep affected areas as cool, clean and dry as possible.
Drink Cranberry juice.
Avoid stressful situations as stress is often a trigger for thrush.
Treat both yourself and any sexual partner you may have to avoid reinfection.
Treat persistent thrush with external application of Melaleuca Oil.
Remove, treat or avoid possible causes of thrush (where sensible): oral contraceptives, broad spectrum antibiotics, iron deficiency; anaemia, diabetes, steroid therapy, high sugar diet, alcohol.
Apply Aloe Vera gel to the affected area.
Apply natural yogurt to the affected area.

I went to my doctor and was diagnosed with IBS ( Irritable Bowel Syndrome). But he didn’t do a thorough examination. My symptoms are bloating, constipation, diarrhea, gas, mucous in stool, and sometimes clear stool. Do I have IBS? If so, what can I do to get better?

*** I am currently taking Belladonna for the IBS. I get severe headaches after I take it. Is this normal too?

An expert panel has outlined a list of symptoms common in irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Doctors often use this list of symptoms, known as the Rome III criteria, to distinguish IBS from other intestinal problems. However, people who don’t have all of these symptoms may still have IBS.

You meet the Rome III criteria for IBS if your symptoms began at least 6 months ago, you have had abdominal pain or discomfort at least 3 days each month in the last 3 months, and at least two of the following statements are true:

The pain is relieved by having a bowel movement.
The pain is linked to a change in how often you have a bowel movement.
The pain is linked to a change in the appearance or consistency of your stool.
The presence of any of the following symptoms supports a diagnosis of IBS.

Bowel movement patterns
When you have IBS, your pattern of bowel movements may be different over time. Two or more of the following may happen:

Bowel movements may occur either more often (diarrhea) or less often (constipation) than usual, such as having more than 3 bowel movements a day or less than 3 a week.
Bowel movements may differ in size or consistency (may be hard and pelletlike, pencil-thin, or loose and watery).
The way stools pass changes. You may strain, feel an urgent need to have a bowel movement, or feel that you haven’t completely passed a stool.

Belladonna is one of the drugs used in the treatment of headaches.
It is not normal to have severe headaches from it. However, that does not mean it is not causing your headaches.
Why don’t you ask your doctor to put you on another drug for the IBS, because you feel the belladonna may be causing your headaches. It never hurts to ask your doctor, and let him know about the headaches.

I dont know if this will help. but try taking 1000mg of Vitamin C everyday. I know it boosts your immune system.It sounds like it could be a Thyroid problem,I am not a Dr. that is just a thought.

I believe Fibromyalgia is joint pain…. not sure if you mean the pain is in your joints. I also don’t think it has anything to do with being tired.
