Question by D_M: Besides eating healthy, I am taking One A Day, 1000 IU D3, Omega 3 and probiotics capsules. Too much or fine?
I am a 30 year old women with no health problems. I am just trying to be as healthy as I can. I searched and find out that Vitamin D3 is important, so I added this to my daily Women’s multivitamin (since its not adequate) Then I added probiotics and Omega 3 pills because they are good for you. But I started to wonder, am I overdoing it? Is it possible to harm my body with too much supplements? Or is it fine as long as they are diverse?
Thanks!

Take the Vitamin D every other day. The rest is fine.

Question by Always A. Lady: Is it normal to get am upset stomach and cotton mouth from taking probiotics?
I’m suffering from persistent BV and was advised to take probiotics along with other treatments to restore the balance of the vaginal flora. The brand I am taking is Femdophilus, which contains 5 billion cfu of L. rhamnous and L. reuteri. I made sure to take after a meal, but now I have a very upset stomach and I am experiencing dry, cotton mouth and extreme thirst. Is this normal? I thought probiotics were supposed to be good on the stomach. I took one pill yesterday before a meal, and I experienced the same thing but chalked it up to taking it on an empty stomach. Today it’s the same experience but AFTER a full meal. Is there a method to take these pills that will be easier on my stomach?

This does not sound normal, but I would recommend checking with your doctor as well to see what they say.

Question by InvestorM: Can the Lovastatin drug I am taking for cholesterol be the cause of my IBS (irritable bowel syndrome)?
I have been suffering from IBS symptoms for the past few years. It seems to have occurred sometime after i was prescribed Lovastatin by my doctor. My symptoms include frequent discomfort in the bowel area of my gut, cramps, gas, bloating, feeling of incomplete evacuation and occasional diarrhea and constipation. I spoke to a gastroenterologist about this about 6 months ago and all he could tell me is that I ‘have to learn to live with it’. The discomfort is playing havoc with my life. Can the cause be the statin drug? What is the probability of this being the case?

Answer by ƦєdAиgєℓ
Your gastroenterolist sounds lovely…let me book an appointment with him/her…the 10th day of never is available lol. Ditch the cholesterol lowering drugs as they have been proven to not show any results in preventing heart disease…all a con to get your $$$$$. Statin drugs suppress the immune system for a start.

Start eating more raw foods in your diet. Digestive enzymes have been shown to cure IBS.

Medical fraud alert: cholesterol lowering statin drugs save zero lives:

Digestive enzymes:

Side effects of lovastatin:
http://www.drugs.com/sfx/lovastatin-side-effects.html

Gastrointestinal side effects associated with the administration of lovastatin have included flatulence (to 6%), abdominal pain (to 6%), diarrhea (to 6%), constipation (to 5%), nausea (to 5%), dyspepsia, and heartburn. Other gastrointestinal side effects of HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors have included pancreatitis, anorexia, and vomiting.

Question by craven: Can I Take probiotics while taking herbs to kill candida?
I am taking this stuff its identical to yeast max, exact same ingredients too…

http://www.qfac.com/supps/yeastmax.html

and it kills candida, and i was wondering if i take it right before a meal, then eat….a few hours later can i take probiotics or yogurt?

The lady at the herb store said that it would kill the good bacteria and it would be a waste, is this true? if so would it make die off worse?

or would probiotics like danactive with l.casei help?
ingredient for full strength, but it says to start with half, 1 capsule, and 10 drops,….but here is the full strength list…

candida gone 2, a capsule

uva ursi – 300 mg
garlic bulb – 150 mg
magnesium caprylate – 75 mg
citricidal extract – 75 mg
pau d’arco root bark – 75 mg
calcium undecylenate – 75 mg
barberry root – 50 mg
neem leaf – 50 mg
olive leaf – 50 mg

oregano leaf – 39.6 mg
orange peel – 33 mg
pau d’arco root bark – 33 mg
cinnamon bark – 20 mg
clove bud – 20 mg
peppermint leaf – 20 mg

let me know what you reccomend and if this is ok to take with probiotics….also does this look like it would kill worms or parasites too for a full cleanse?

Actually, yes, the probiotics help quite a bit to control yeast growth. In fact, the best way to prevent yeast growth issues (yeast infections, thrush, etc) is to take probiotics on a regular basis.
I don’t see why any herbs that cleanse candida would kill probiotics unless it is an antibiotic (which medicinal/beneficial herbs aren’t). If you could E-mail me a list of the ingredients or a link to a site with the ingredients for that product, I can take a look for you.
In any case, I wish you luck!

[edit]: Yeah, those are mostly for health of your liver, urinary tract/kidneys, immune system, and other parts of the body. I don’t see any reason those would hurt probiotics, not to mention the fact that if they killed the probiotics, that would encourage the Candida to come back later anyway. You’re good to go with that and probiotics.
