he,s correct. do what he says. yogurt is good for the gut. lots of good bacteria in yogurt. lack of water is very rough on the digestive system. soda and coffee don,t qualify as water replacements.

Question by James: What is wrong with my digestive system?
Hello

Ever since I was little, milk gave me diarrhea.
Have you guys heard of worms in the stomach? I think I may just have some worm infection going on. Whenever I drink something real sweet, like Tampico juice, I get these ugly stabbings, like poking sensation, bothersome, in my stomach. It scares me, because I cannot move when I get that sudden pain and it feels as if my stomach is stretching or ripping apart. I went to the doctor and he said it was irritable bowel syndrome. He prescribed Famotidine and they seem to have worked. I also eat a lot of fatening foods, like Carl’s Karcher. Also, many of the times, I get this ugly sort of heartburn in my chest, esophagus. Yesterday I was throwing up like crazy and I felt sick, while I also had diarrhea. Did I just go through some food poisening? Stomach infection? How do I get rid of it? I feel like I have a fever. Is it Acid Reflux? Anyone with any similar experiences or symptoms? I have a weak stomach.

Question by RocknRolla: Digestive System Problems – Help?
Hi, I am a 21 year old female. Since I was very young I have had digestive system problems. Whenever I eat my GI tract gets upset. Some foods upset it more but it’s not consistent and hard to keep track of. Almost every single bowel movement I have had since I was a little kid has been diarrhea. I urinate very little only two, maybe three times a day and my urine is always yellow because I lose so much water from diarrhea. Last year I had kidney stones. I get very fatigued easily.

I am sick of living with these symptoms so I recently saw a gastroenterologist and had a colonoscopy. My colon was fine and the biopsies came back fine. Blood tests came back fine except for a little “inflammation” whatever that means. The doctors said it was not irritable bowel syndrome, colitis, or celiac disease.

I have an appointment with the gastroenterologist soon and he is going to put me on a medication. Since IBS, celiac disease, and colon diseases have been ruled out I am wondering what else it could be.

I realize there are a million diseases of the digestive system but I was hoping somebody could narrow it down to just a few given my symptoms and the fact my colon is fine.

Thanks.
I was not abused or anything like that. I am stressed but I doubt this is stress linked because even as a little kid I always had diarrhea and during days/weeks/months when I’m not all that stressed I still have diarrhea.

Were you an abused child or had/have adult responsibilities? Sounds like you may have had a very stressful life. Nerves can affect you even at an early age and continue thru adulthood. I had an ulcer at age 18 – not normal for a teenager. Have you had the full GI/GB series of tests done?

Question by MoonStarsandRoses: Best ways, foods, supplements to build *immune system?*?
Hi ! I try to eat well with a balanced diet and I take supplements like vitamins, minerals, probiotics – - about 12 different supplements a day. For instance, I take Vitamin C, 500 mg x 3 a day, B-complex, kelp, Magnesium, Zinc, etc….

My friend has suggested that I add beta glucogan or beta glucocan ( SP ?) to help build/keep immunity?

I looked at this in a health store and it’s kinda expensive.

Is this a good choice ? Is there something better ? I thought vitamin C (ascorbic acid) was the best ?

Thanks.

Save your money and stick with foods. Organic fruits and veggies do a better job at strongly building and maintaining immune health and it’s lighter on the wallet. For ex: I consume a 3000 daily caloric diet, but I always incorporate 10 servings of fruits and raw veggies into this palate. Why? I never get sick. So, it works. It’s also sound judgement to cut out those “foods” that rob nutrients like, for one, refined sugar, and for two, partially hydrogenated veg. oils. This is a no-brainer, literally. Not only is it not good for brain health, but it also places your body in an acidic state, leaving you susceptible to diseases. Everytime my parents turned around, when I was a child, I was always taking Amoxycilin, Tetracycline, some crap for bacterial infections. I had many episodes of viral infections…colds that were innumerible as a kid. I was a sugaraholic. I loved it, and I was wired constantly. It didn’t stop in my teens and 20’s, but after so many years, I couldn’t take anymore of it and did my own research. For a time, I got into the supplements like you, taking every name of supplement I couldn’t even pronounce for lots of money per bottle. They didn’t work as well as whole foods. Whole, raw foods are impecable at what they do for you. They’re not only foods, but they’re nature’s medicine for your body. Believe it or not, a natural food store owner convinced me of this. So, it was no surprise I only shopped at his store for just the topicals and not the supplements. He gave me the nitty gritty on what it was all really about, plus, he’s a biochemist and a professor at a local college, so that helped a bit.
I hope this helped some, if not, at least I placed my input. Good luck to you.

What do you think? Answer below!

Question by Taylor B: Help with an immune system for a special girl!?
Hey guys, I need some advice/help, so let me fill you all in with the details, and I welcome ANYTHING!

Ok so I’m 21years old;
I have Muscular Dystrophy- form of Charcot-Marie-Tooth which falls into the category of neuro-muscular degenerative diseases;
I have RSD-reflexive sympathetic dystrophy also known as CRPS type 1-Chronic Regional Pain Syndrome type 1 which falls into the category of severe chronic pain disorder/auto-immune disorder;
I have HNPP-Hereditary Neuropathy to Pressure Palsy which also falls into the category of neuro-muscular degenerative diseases;
I also have TOS- Thoracic Outlet Syndrome which these days my specialist says is getting pretty severe;
I have severe GERD (so I’m picky about what I eat, however if theres a miracle fruit out there that would give me acid reflux- ID GET OVER IT!! hah);
I have severe chronic IBS-irritable bowel syndrome with an ulcer every now and then;
I have severe generalized anxiety disorder, post traumatic stress syndrome, and bouts of severe depression;
I currently am without insurance otherwise I would go visit a ton of specialists (but not to worry, I’ve applied through the state and everything so I’ll either be getting medical assistance or medicaid/medicare something so it won’t be more than a couple months) so I’m really looking for any kind of advice that I can get, I’m not looking to put my disabilities out there just for “attention” otherwise I would’ve done this 8years ago. Ok back to my back round…
21-disabled…My diet isn’t spectacular, but it is not poor; I eat a decent amount of fruits and veggies. Unfortunately I can’t exercise all but small, very quick exercises that don’t put too much strain on my muscles or put me in pain, so if anyone has any advice on exercising for disabled people, I’m all ears because I know that helps immune systems.
I also just had surgery back on December 10th 2010, and September 10th 2010 although my specialists knew it would send my RSD/CRPS type 1 back into remission however the surgeries were absolutely necessary (I had all wisdom teeth removed because of the amount of infections I was getting in my mouth, and then in Dec I had an appendectomy).
Due to my disabilities I need to be on a number of different medications in order to just function daily otherwise I’m in a hospital bed just laying there but the lists is as follows: cymbalta, neurontin, oxycodoneIR, prilosec.
I also had an experimental, non-FDA treatment performed on me to see if it helped my RSD/CRPS type1- it was a “ketemine treatment” which consisted of me sitting in a dark room for 10 days 5.5 hours each day receiving a ketemine drip, unfortunately with the combo of Muscular Dystrophy and RSD/CRPS type 1 even the strongest of nerve blocks doesn’t work, hence me being so young and on narcotics.
I consume absolutely no alcohol except half a glass of Champagne on new years, I am a non-smoker as well, I know some people may find this hard to believe since I’m young and such but why would I lie to a bunch of anonymous people?
So now I know I need to improve my immune system, for the past year (and previous years it was pretty bad but it has gotten much worse to the point of what I’m about to explain) every month for about 2 weeks, sometimes 3 weeks I am sick, vomiting for days at a time, I can’t hold anything down, I get severely dehydrated I’ve gone to the hospital a shit load of times however without insurance now I don’t go as often unless I’m so dehydrated I pass out, which happens quite often, I get alot of UTIs, bladder infections, and other types of misc. infections, stomach bugs, and countless viruses.
I mean I’m down to try anything- aromatherapy, revising my diet, specialized exercise, I mean NO BODY HOLD BACK! I’m getting very desperate to leave this all behind and when I do get my insurance back I plan to visit a nutritionists and if there is one my insurance covers- an immune specialists (however I know they are very expensive!)
So I think that pretty much covers everything, and I thank every single person’s response and time anyone took to read this, Thank you again, -TB.
