Irritable Bowel Syndrome Treatment

Question by Missymae: what can i do? i have a very embarassing problem and am supposed to live with it the rest of my life?
This is an incredibly embarrassing problem that i now have. I have extreme IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) and Fecal incontinence.(which means i defaecate on my self w/o control). I am only 29 yrs old and according to the GI dr, my muscles are fine in that area. his only suggestions are to take this high dosed medicine for the rest of my life, and at some point have a colostomy. I don’t think i am ready mentally for that. I have tried to go back to school to better educate my self and have failed classes because i would have an accident before going in. Any thing sets off these accidents, Water food nothing at all. The Dr’s have me on 80 mg of bentyl a day. normal does is 40mg, I take tofrinil at night and live on Imodium and Metamucil. From taking these prescriptions i am so tired that i cant functions. I have had 2 different opinions and that is the answer from both. I can no longer go shopping that i don’t know where a bathroom is and i try not going because it is embarrassing when you have “stuff” running down your leg. I have changed my diet and nothing helps. Any suggestions would be appreacheated, Thanks
I have tried the adult diapers. They do help but at the same time leave you galded. i try to stay at home because i know i can make it to the bathroom. As for school i am trying to complete it online. because i cant tell you when the accident will happen. I also have 2 beautiful children that i need to think about as well.

i am very sorry to hear about this i know you must be upset because i know i would but dont worry about it you will be ok just pray to god for answers he will help you through this he cares when no one els does just pray for help and he will be there for you :]

Question by Ruth: what is the solution for a dog who never understands that he is not supposed to eat fast?
My dog eats very fast. he attacks the bowl and finishes it all, in 15 secs or less. He basically drinks the food. He doesn’t even make an attempt to chew. This has caused him Irritable bowel syndrome and the vet said he can have more stomach problems if he keeps drinking food instead of chewing and eating. He seems to be in such a big rush to finish the bowl as if the world is about to come to an end. It has been wired into his brain that he must eat fast as hell.

I am smiling. My 11 year old Labrador is the same way. I use the small kibble of the brand of food, wet it really well until it is mushy and put a big rock in the middle of the bowl.

It works for me.

wonder drug in the treatment of irritable bowel syndrome, I cant seem to find much on the net. Its not approved in the U.S, I was prescribed Zelnorm but a doctor oversees told me to take Spasmoprive instead.

No it should not cause your BM to smell. I would stop the probiotics and see if clears up. If does then you need to try a better brand of probiotics. If it doesn’t clear up then you may want to talk to your doc to find out what is going on.

Just wanting to know the benefits of taking these 3 things on a daily basis ~ I pretty much know the benefits for probiotics, helps with digestion and such, but what are the benefits of the fish oil and Vitamin E?
