Question by : What are some good OTC remedies for IBS relief?
I’ve been drinking peppermint tea which is helping somewhat for my irritable bowel syndrome.
IBS with constipation. :(

I have had IBS since I had my gallbladder removed. I haven’t really found any medicines that work. I’ve tried so many I can’t even remember the names. I’m not really sure what type of IBS you have [ there's one with frequent constipation, one with frequent diarrhea & one with both ] but if you have the one with frequent diarrhea, try eating greens with your meals. Lettuce, spinach, kale, things like that.

In that case, have you tried stool softners? Maybe some prune juice. Miralax works wonders from what I’ve heard.

Question by Sarah UK: Do you believe that some people have very high metabolism?
Im 34 and slim. Ive never put any weight on since i was 15. Ive been assessing my daily intake and was shocked to find that I eat 3000 calories a day. My exercise is poor. I had no idea that i was eating that much, i always presumed that it was around 1800 cals a day. im wondering whether i have a digestive problem because I get irritable bowel syndrome type symptoms. I get really bad tummy pains. sometimes. I am reluctant to believe that i have a high metabolism because my mum and sister gain easily.

Yes there are,there is a girl I know that is incredibly skinny but eats a lot and there’s nothing wrong with her,but just in case,I would go to a doctor to make sure there’s nothing wrong

Question by Cupcake :) : Stool like water for some months now, also run to the loo after eating something, PLEASE help?
Alright so, I’m so.. a few months ago I had my college exam results coming out, they were extremely important exams and I was taking way too much tension over the results. I found myself using the loo everytime I would start thinking of what I would get in my exams, later I researched and got to know I had ISB – Irritable Bowel Syndrome. I cleared my exams well. But even NOW I go to the loo just after give minutes of eating something, and I have gas too.

Sometimes I get pain. The stool is like water, and when I have to run to the loo, the feeling is so intense, and the stool is real wattery. I know it’s NOTHING to do with my diet. And I do eat good carbs too, but that hasn’t helped make my stool normal again. I’ve been to the Dr. before, because a year ago I was facing the problem of hard stools with blood in it. Tests were taken for colon cancer, but they came out clear, it was just a fissure. What could be the problem this time? IBS? Or something else. I’m 19, a little overweight. Thanks. :)

You need to quit stressing, and chilax.
Thats whats causing the “loo” problems.

Question by ideoRama81: What are some foods I can eat since I was diagnosed with IBS?
I had undergone extreme family stress and hardship within the past year.

At my doctor’s physical, he stated that I am in good health except for 3 things: I gained 30Lbs since November, I was diagnosed with IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome), & I have high cholesterol. I am 27 now and am in need of advice.

I am on meds for a 4th, non related, disability that causes weight gain, but the side effects keep me from doing physical activity on a frequent basis.

A nutritionist is not currently within my budget (since some cost up to $ 100 a session) and the gym trainers are a rip off.

Since I can’t work out, I wanna cut back on my unhealthy diet & eating out a lot.

Does anyone know what I can order or buy at the store that is good for IBS or to cut down on calories, seeing as I am unable to cook by myself due to all 4 medical conditions?

I gave the background info, but really need a lot of advice to keep the weight down in the diet area.

Anyone who knw’s nutrition ideas plz answer.
I forgot to mention, my medical disability is Neurological, which is why I don’t trust my gas stove, boiling water, or sharp/heavy objects. I live on my own tho, but just eat out a lot cuz that’s all I seem to be able to do. Ironically, I am Italian and great chef, but I can’t put it to use very often.
Also, I lost weight on Nutrisystem last year, but it was seemingly a “quick fix” and it came right back on, even when I wrote down a daily calorie intake (after I stopped). I am 6 feet tall and weight 234Lbs. Strangely, I hold my weight well since people think I weigh around 180 or so. I was an athlete for years, so I guess my core is muscle. I wanna lose around 30 Lbs all together.

Do a Google search on IBS books, then follow the diet suggestions. There are some amazing (and encouraging) books out there by people who had this themselves!!
