Do Feminine Probiotics work the same as regular Probiotics?

I’m on antibiotics and my Dr suggested I either eat lots of yogurt or take a probiotic to keep from getting a yeast infection. Although I love yogurt I can’t see myself eating it constantly. So researching probiotics online I noticed there are Feminine Probiotics and regular. The regular target the immune system and intestinal health while the feminine kind (such as RePhresh) target feminine health. I’m trying to figure out if I can take regular (less expensive) probiotics and still have the same effect. Please help.

The “Feminine Probiotics” are basically the strains that live and thrive in the vaginal cavity… they are more commonly recommended for specific vaginal issues. You can use those for better defense against yeast infections, but you can get a similar effect from the “regular Probiotics”.
Simply put, the Probiotics help to hold the bad stuff (yeast, bacteria, and other growths) at bay so that they aren’t able to grow too much (eg. yeast overgrowths, yeast infections, etc). The antibiotic will kill off most of the bacteria (both good and bad), so you’ll definitely want to take something (which I’m glad your doctor recommended)… the “Feminine” ones would work faster and better in the vagina, but a good high dose of the “regular” ones would be sufficient unless you start getting yeast infections right away. It’s kind of a confusing issue, but I hope I helped!
