Question by Sophia23: Embarrassing, noisy gas problem. Does anyone else ever have really noisy “wind” that sounds like gun shots? It
is really embarrassing if it happens when in a public toilet. I have a form of irritable bowel syndrome, or so it seems, and I am wondering if that would be a common symptom of that?
Yeah, I know it’s nasty, and would like to hear from other IBS sufferers in particular.

Answer by oldtimekid
That’s not a common symptom of IBS (both my mother and brother have it), and I can’t think of any ailment that could cause louder gas.

If you have a lot of gas though, it’s likely that it’s from improper digestion (if it’s not caused by an illness). If you aren’t digesting certain foods well enough, it commonly causes gas. The easiest way to help that would be to take a good enzyme complex to help digest those foods so you don’t get the gas in the first place. Good luck!

Question by : what’s happening with my stomach? is this really IBS?
First of all, I’m 20 years old. I’ve been very worried ever since me and my boyfriend got a little more intimate (July 28 i think) and of course, since it was my first time doing that kind of thing, I’ve never been involved in sex related acts before: foreplay in this case (we are both virgins). I did research on how dangerous that could be, so that day I tried to be attentive and be care full with the things we did (kissing and oral sex not more than that). The thing that worried me was that he masturbated in front of me, i was sitting on a bed and he was standing in front of me. I noticed he held everything in his hand when he finished and later he went to the bathroom and washed his hands. Then three days after that I started to feel a weird sensation in my lower stomach (like if there was gas), I started to worry a lot because of the thoughts of being pregnant from that, so 15 days later I asked my grandmother to take me to the hospital for the help of a gynecologist. I did blood test, sonography and urine test and the all came out well, the only thing was that my urine as a bit darker because I needed to drink more water. My gynecologist told me it was probably an infection and gave me something for that, but the sensation didn’t go away so I didn’t know what to think, until I got my period on August. Later I went to a gastroenterologist and she told me that I have Irritable Bowel Syndrome, she told me to watch out on what I eat and gave me some pills for that but the sensation didn’t go away and I worried again. I hopefully got my period on September and October also but I noticed they were short but heavy, so that can’t be implantation if I were pregnant (since I’ve read it’s brown or pink but my blood was bright red). I still have that sensation (November 2nd) and it’s getting worse since I feel my lower stomach it’s a little hard. I don’t know if I’m getting this symptoms for freaking out about being pregnant or if i’m for real or it’s just IBS… can somebody help me know what’s this?

trust me i have anxiety disorder about my health and you can give yourself all sorts of things with worry. i promise you you are NOT pregnant so you can stop worrying about that.
yes worry does give you ibs and since this started since you started worrying i am pretty sure that is what you have! i have given it myself lots of times. nothing really works for ibs except stop worrying, relax and carry on with your life. dont give it a second thought and before you know it, all will be ok. easier said than done..i, know.
you should prob get checked for an anxiety disorder also

Question by : If you have really bad IBS does it make you lose weight?
Does Irritable Bowel Syndrome make you lose weight?

Best answer:

Answer by BabeHart
Weight loss could certainly be a symptom, considering food consumed may pass through their system faster (much like someone using laxatives to lose weight)…it doesn’t burn fat, but will reduce the amount of calories (and nutrition) the body absorbs from what is consumed…basically, it could lead to malnutrition if the person with the condition wasn’t able to consume enough that their body could use/absorb…

Question by kingers1988: Colon Cancer. Really worried?
Hi, so i started having cramp/pain in my bladder/lower stomach and i thought it might be irritable bowel syndrome, so i told my dad. He asked me a few questions:

Do you have blood in the stool – I often get blood on the toilet paper – 50% of the time

Do you get mucus ? – i have had it maybe 20 times in my life.

Is it painful when you Defecate – Quite often yes.

So he said i should get it check out at the doctor. We had a longer chat today about the possibility of colon cancer. All my symptoms fit it, i am constantly tired also..

Ive had these symptoms on and off for about 10 years. so i just ignored them as i thought they were pretty normal. My dad says that blood on the toilet paper is not normal and i should have got it checked out much earlier. Hes decided to book an appointment with the doctor tomorrow.

Im so worried. i cant stop shaking. Im frightened about the self examinations – embarassed and ashamed. but moreso about the possibility of cancer. My exams are soon and
im not going to be able to concentrate. I kind of wish i had not said anything to my dad, but now i realise its important that i did.

I just really dont know what to do. Im so anxious and afraid, i cant sleep or do anything. I spent the last 2 hours walking up and down my room.

Ive read up online about the symptoms and they all seem to fit mine, and it said that the cancer can persist up to 10 years before there are any serious symptoms (is that right?). I remember about 10 yrs old i had mucus in my stool, and i can remember blood on the toielt paper ever since i can remember. ( about 1/2 the time i go to the toilet).

Im not sure why im on here, i know that nothing can make me feel better until the doctor says im ok, but i dont know what else to do. its 23.27 now and im not going to be able to sleep, and i cant stop thinking about it.

Im 19, not that active, slightly overweight, but i would not say obese. I eat varied diet, lots of sugary foods, veg, fruit, alcohol. everything :/

You are doing the right thing by getting an exam. These are signs that should be checked out. You should try not to worry and realize that you will be taken care of and treated for anything that may be wrong with you. You are only 19 and have probably caught this in time. Good luck to you and in the future do not wait to see a Doctor when you suspect something is wrong.
