Question by Nikki ツ: Did I answer the question she’s asking?
I have to write 2 paragraphs as a biology assignment, one on how bacteria is helpful to humans and another on how it is harmful. I am not sure if I am answering the question in the best way. Here is the paragraph I wrote on how it is helpful:
Different types of bacteria are helpful to humans, and these bacteria are called Probiotics. One thing probiotics do is help maintain and restore the balance of bacteria. Without this balance, harmful bacteria multiply and eventually take over. Another thing probiotics do is help relieve symptoms of inflammatory bowel diseases, irritable bowl syndrome, calitis, and alcoholic liver disease. There is also evidence that probiotics help prevent certain types of allergies and the risk for colon, liver, and breast cancers.

It sounds OK. I’m not sure if your teacher will want you to cite it — especially where you refer to “the evidence …”. What evidence? Where did you find it?

Question by TerriersRock: IBS concerns in the first trimester of pregnancy question (fear of it causing miscarraige)?
Okay I have what is believed to be IBS. We have a family history of it in our family and the doc says before running tests that that is it. Anyways we are trying to start our family and wonder if that has any effect on the ability to get pregnant?
Also the first trimester, all the stress from going from constipation to diarrea and back. Would that harm the baby? (I have the ibs where its back and forth between constipation and diareaha) Honestly this is the first bought of it I’ve had in 4 months. So its scary.
So I just want to know how IBS affects pregnancy and becoming pregnant……and if its possible to have a healthy happy baby.
Also I want to know what else I can do to lessen the IBS symptoms now and during that time. (I’ve been eating healthier so thats a start) I’m not on any medicine for the ibs
(IBS= Irritable bowel syndrome)

Question by : PLEASE ANSWER MY QUESTION! I NEED TO GET BETTER!!?
I was sick with the stomach flu about three weeks ago. I threw up on a Saturday, and I had diarrhea the rest of that week. I got better a week later. I go to school, and everyone has been sick with the stomach flu. I’ve had Irritable Bowel Syndrome before, so I know what it feels like. My mom said that it’s probably that, but I know it isn’t. My symptoms are diarrhea, and I feel as if there is a lump in my throat, not making me want to eat or drink. I have only eaten some chips and a grape popsicle today. Please tell me what I should do and what I should eat/drink! Thank you so much to whoever wants to help me!

You should check to make sure you don’t have any signs of fever first. Going to the doctor is always a good option, (they diagnose stuff for a living, haha) but you should probably take it easy for a while, lay off exercise and drink plenty of fluids. Also, if you’re allergic to anything, it might be the cause. I recommend going to the doctor, though. If your throat is sore, you probably have strep, which can turn even uglier if left untreated.

Yes, you can take both together. The ranitidine might work better if you take it before eating as it takes quite a while to be absorbed and assert it’s effect.
