Question by : PLEASE ANSWER MY QUESTION! I NEED TO GET BETTER!!?
I was sick with the stomach flu about three weeks ago. I threw up on a Saturday, and I had diarrhea the rest of that week. I got better a week later. I go to school, and everyone has been sick with the stomach flu. I’ve had Irritable Bowel Syndrome before, so I know what it feels like. My mom said that it’s probably that, but I know it isn’t. My symptoms are diarrhea, and I feel as if there is a lump in my throat, not making me want to eat or drink. I have only eaten some chips and a grape popsicle today. Please tell me what I should do and what I should eat/drink! Thank you so much to whoever wants to help me!

You should check to make sure you don’t have any signs of fever first. Going to the doctor is always a good option, (they diagnose stuff for a living, haha) but you should probably take it easy for a while, lay off exercise and drink plenty of fluids. Also, if you’re allergic to anything, it might be the cause. I recommend going to the doctor, though. If your throat is sore, you probably have strep, which can turn even uglier if left untreated.

Question by TerriersRock: Pregnant with IBS….scared and need advice? Please help (Scared of Ectopic Pregnancy being an issue)?
Okay so I found out yesterday that I am pregnant. Which is great but I’m scared. You see I’m having pain on my right side. And normally I get my IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) pains there but now I’m scared that even though its in the same place as the IBS pains that it might be an ectopic pregnancy. They did blood work today. I’m just praying its the IBS. anyways have any of you ever wondered? Or thought that?

I shouldn’t be so worried but I’m scared. I’ve got pain in my lower right abodmen and back (where I normally get my IBS pains….but I’m not constipated right now or anything.)

I’m pretty scared

My symptoms are: Missed period (with light spotting on day of expected period)
Nausea
Slight back pain
Gas

Sadly my blood pressure is a little high right now because I’m so nervous about everything at the moment….anxious (which causes IBS)
I just want to be able to be happy about this, instead of scared

If it isn’t the IBS it could just be round ligament pain. I got it pretty regularly in the first half of my pregnancy, always on the right side, but now it’s much less. It’s pretty painful though. If you’re really scared, go to the hospital. Better safe then sorry. Good luck!!!

This sounds all too familiar. These symptoms sound similar to gluten intolerance. Called Celiac spru. or celiac disease. Does the doctor know about this? You might also have a parasite.

Question by Photogirl: I need help with Daughter? Doctors keep brushing me off.?
It really started about a year ago. she started getting tummy aches. The tummy aches got worse. she would be fine one minute and on the floor screaming in pain the next. These could last for hours. I have taken her to an allergist, i have had a blood work up done. I have had her tested for celiacs disease. I have taken her to pediatric gastointerologist. ( she thinks she has irritable bowel syndrome) Now her newest symptom is burning head aches where she describes them as if her brain is on fire and its burning. these headaches cause her to cry and scream hysterically She has had a cat scan and all appears normal. I just don’tt know what else to do. She is 11 and has not started to developpe yet.
I have changed her diet i have taken her off dairy products and gluten but nothing makes any difference. I hate seeing her pain

Question by Lady Blue: IBS Sufferers?? – Need help or advice?
I saw my general practitioner who believes I may have IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) as I exhibit all of the symptoms. I had an episode in 2006 of diarreha, cramping, etc. and an upper endoscopy was performed and the findings were normal.

My doc is now recommending I undergo a colonoscopy just to rule out any other issues. I am not afraid of the procedure, but of course, just nervous of any findings. I recently had what I believe was food poisioning and the “IBS episode” occurred again (cramping, diarrehea)…at least I think it was the episode, but I can’t really tell. The vomitting stopped after 1 day and I now just feel weak and exhausted. I’ve noticed that several of my co-workers have been out of work lately too for vomitting and diarrhea.

I had been under a lot of stress (worrying about a family member’s health) prior to the attack. Could this stressful event have caused the IBS attack? Would the food poisioning make the episode more complex. I know these are questions for a doctor, but I wanted to hear from others who may have this condition. I am nervous about having the colonoscopy for fear of them finding something terrible and I don’t know if all of this worry is causing me not to be able to get my stomach totally settled and under control. :-(

as you probable already know stress and being nervous can cause
a lot of problems including ibs and other related problems.
speaking from experience ibs is nothing to laugh about
when your dr.told you to have a colonoscopy he just wants to
make sure there is nothing serious causing the problem, usually
all they find are harmless polyps.dont worry ive been there and
done that.good luck

What do you think? Answer below!
