Question by liya79: Does taking probiotics affect the menstrual cycle?
I have been taking probiotics once a day for the past two months and have noticed that my cycle is much shorter than it used to be. Probiotics have helped with my digestion / bloating. However is this is a side effect of taking them?

probiotics is for everyone!! you should always be on them if you are on antibiotics too. im sure they are good for menstrual cycle too : ) but you dont have to take them everyday…maybe like 1-3x per week and eveyday if your sick or think youre going to be getting sick. i hope that helps!

I’ve missed my period for the 2nd time this year when I have usually been regular. I’m 30, never had children and am not pregnant now. I have bloating, some cramping, and nausea..just like the last x this happened. I did finally get my period again (on my wedding day) now it’s missing again. I’m worried. My gyno can’t find anything wrong even after ultrasounds other than the common ovary cysts. I’m really afraid I have something wrong with me where I can never have children. Has anybody got any info for me? Thanks.

I discovered a few days ago that I mostly likely have Irritable Bowel Syndrome. I started this new medicine, and I noticed today that I have menstrual cramps. They feel different, though, like they aren’t being caused by my uterus contracting, but maybe by the muscles that are superficial to the uterus, because they also seem to reach farther up. I’m not quite sure what they are. Any ideas? Thanks!

I’ve been on Culturelle (a probiotic) for about a month and a half now. It makes me feel amazing, and everyone arround me notices that I seem to be acting alot better, because I’m not as sick all the time.
But I’m about (not positive to the day) 2 or 3 weeks late for my period. I’m going to be 17 this year, and I understand that my body could still be changing and developing a regular cycle.
I never once thought about Culturelle making any difference in THAT department until I sat down to think about any changes I’ve made in my diet, medicine, etc.
If it helps, I’m not pregnant.
