How long does the stomach flu last?

Last sunday, I could not sleep at all and I had horrible stomach pain. I was able to go to sleep, and when I woke up, the pain was gone. However, by the afternoon, the pain came back, but it wasn’t severe and I wasn’t in any severe pain, it was just annoying.
The same trend continued until Wednesday, when I went to the doctor, and I told her I have the following symptoms:
Mild pain in stomach region that hurts on one side, than the pain will move to a different area, and then subside, then repeat the process.
I told her the pain goes away temporarily with Pepto Bismol.
Additionally, I told her the day prior I had body aches.
So, she gave me these pills, (I forget what they are called) which are typically prescribed for Irritable Bowel Syndrome, and they help a lot. She said she could tell when I had the stomach flu when I told her the pain moves around.
Tomorrow, it will be a week since the pain started, and I still have this minor pain if I don’t take the pills.
Can the stomach flu last more than one week? And could this be a sign of a more serious problem?
And note: I don’t have a fever, and I haven’t vomited or had diarrhea.

That the pain goes away and comes back makes it sound more like tight muscles than anything else to me. Tight muscles can press onto the nerves, as they leave the spine, going to the stomach. That would cause the stomach to release more gastric acid which is going to burn your stomach until it spreads out and gets too weak to be a pain. Taking something for acid will neutralize it as you have done. But each time you make a movement or lay down the pressure can go back to the nerves to cause the pain all over again. Freeing up your back muscles will get rid of the pain for you and here’s how to free it up:
Back:
(do from a sitting position)
Place your left hand on your left leg next to your body. Place your right hand over your left shoulder, fingers over the back and the palm in the front and firmly pull down on them and hold. After 30 seconds slowly lower your body forward and to the outside of your left leg, keeping your left arm fairly straight as you do. When you reach your lap remain there for another 10 seconds, release the pressure but rest there for another 30 seconds. Then reverse your hand positions and do your right side.
For best results relax your body first by taking a deep breath and exhaling then remain this relaxed.
