Question by ShinkuOkami: Urinary Tract Infection?
I’ve recently been having some of the symptoms associated with a UTI and before I go and spend a lot of money at the doctor (there’s no bulk billing near where I live) I wanted to know if its likely I actually have one or whether i’m just paranoid.
This has been going on for quite a number of weeks now:
~ Feeling the need to go to the toilet often to urinate, but often there’s very little that needs to come out.
~ I often feel like there’s some urine still in my bladder a few minutes after peeing (most of the time).
~ A couple of times a week the urine is cloudy (so not very often).
~ Sometimes get discomfort or a quick sharp pain in my bowels if I stretch or lie down in an unusual position.
There’s no blood in my urine though, and I only have a burning sensation if my urine is quite yellow (which I’m assuming just means I haven’t had enough water).
I also suffer from Irritable Bowel Syndrome, just in case this is just a part of that.
Thanks for any advice!
Oh, and just to note: I’m a 17 year old male.

Sounds like it. I’ve had recurring ones for years. You really need to get checked, though, because if it spreads to your kidneys you’re screwed. If it is a UTI, all you need are some antibiotics.

Question by Julyana: Help with urinary tract infection?
This is my first urinary track infection for about 3 weeks now and my doctor has prescribed me with an antibiotic for the first week to treat and prevent urinary track infection bt it wouldn’t go away so he prescribed me more but a different mark.
My 2 urine tests from a week and 2 weeks ago said I still had it I took another urine test today and it came out clean but I still felt the sharp pain on my right side of my abdomen so he gave me a prescription for something for Irritable bowel syndrome symtoms since I now just have abdominal pain. do you know what can be wrong with me?
I’m 15 years old
I try drinking cranberry juice bt it makes me wanna throw up even when add water and I feel the stab of pain
I take multivitamins because the doc told me to too
sometimes the pain can get really bad to where I throw up a lot except when I’m on medication bt I don’t want to go through this :,(

My gf has the same problem, he may have already told you this but stay away from caffeine and yellow drinks or juice. The only thing that does help my gf at all is cranberry juice, try holding your nose to drink it really does help, but you at least need to drink 4 or 5 cups per day, also their is a pill that you can buy at any pharmacy and it has cranberries in it, not real sure of the name but it works just as good.

Question by Strifelok: can probiotics cure yeast infection?
Best answer:
Answer by Matt
Potentially, I’m not a doctor but in theory they can. Probiotics introduces more competition in the intestinal tract which takes away from other microbes being more prominent. Note though that this solution takes a lot of time and will not always be successful.
An anti-fungal would be speedier although they’re not the best for your body.

Question by B B: Has anyone had a dog with a yeast infection? Natural alternatives?
The vet said today that the dog maybe has a UTI which caused itching in her vagina and to put cortisone around her vagina. He said it could possibly be yeast too but doubtful. She seems sore down there in general, her anus and vagina seem sore. I feel uncomfortable rubbing cortisone on her since she’s sore, and am concerned it’s actually yeast. She has a prescription for UTI too. Should I try treating potential yeast with probiotics or yogurt?

My pup had one once, she did get an antibiotic-the UTI medication will probably help her anyway with it, but my vet said to give the dog some yogurt-like in humans…most of the problem is the pup’s continuous licking causing the soreness.

i would say the animal has something on its tounge or in its mouth and if you fed it by holding out your hand with food in the palm he/she transfered it onto your palm and you might of not washed your hand good or waited too long until you washed your hands
