Irritable Bowel Syndrome Treatment

Question by Gguy: Is it possible to get a medicinal marijuana card for I.B.S. in Canada?
I was wondering if a doctor would prescribe medicinal marijuana for Irritable Bowel Syndrome in Ontario and if it would be hard to acquire. I don’t want to make this long but marijuana has helped the runs, helped the pain in my lower abdomen, and helps me be able to eat out with friends or eat in with friends and go out without having such a discomforting pain in my stomach. I do control my diet it just seems marijuana helps me eat more with less pain, which has 2 benefits because i have lost weight eating less to fit my class schedules without the runs. I have tried over the counter medicine. doesn’t work and compounds my sleeping problems for some reason.

I appreciate anyone’s opinion or fact on the matter. Also i am not suggesting cannabis is for everyone and everyone with I.B.S. should use it, i simply think if you’re old enough to vote you should be competent enough to know if something is helping you.

I am 12 years old and getting my belly button done in November for my 13th birthday. One of my older friends said it barely hurts and everything is worth it after like a month or 2 because of the healing and all that crap. But I have I.B.S (irritable bowel syndrome) and I read that if done wrong, belly button piercings can give you severe stomach problems. My I.B.S acts up daily and when I eat fast food so I never eat it. I can’t take anymore stomach problems, and no, I do not take any kind of medicine for it I just try to eat as healthy as I can.

I have another question: does it really hurt as bad as some people on the internet say it does? I’m comfortable with getting shots and I’ve only gotten my ears pierced without being nervous at all. I don’t know how this could help but I do tear open my skin with needles when I have splinters and am not afraid to shove a needle through that dead layer of skin on your hands. (duh.) I am a girly girl and want to do this because I saw it and it looked extremely cute.

I also play sports – fast pitch, volleyball, basketball, and track. So how can I prevent it from getting like caught on my clothing ? Sorry for all the questions. I already did the pinch as hard as you can for 10 seconds and I can take that almost no problem. I am told by my coaches that I am basically an all-around tough girl for my age but that’s because when I was younger I was yelled at when I cryed and told to suck it up whenever I got hurt It didn’t offend me in anyway.

Oh yeah, this is the last one, I heard that a Store in Bedford, Ohio called A Nu Tatt2 and are they really that sanitary and good at piercings? I’ve heard good things from them except that they are kind of over priced but that’s because it’s like really professional.

It wont effect your ibs , i have both , its only the outside bit of skin pierced , nothing to do with your bowels

Possibly yes. This one will please the alties: Chinese herbal medicine has been used with SOME success, providing drugs like aristolochia, stephania and clematis are avoided. A recent RCT has shown commercially available herbal preparations containing nine plant extracts (STW 5) effective in reducing symptoms in IBS. So that might be worth a try.

Try dietary changes too, 50% of people find that a low fire diet helps, whilst the other 50% say it makes it worse, but it is worth a try.

The spasm in the gut can be very painful. Have you tried Colpermin? You buy this OTC too. If all of the above fails to work, then you could give low dose Amytriptlyn(sp?) a try. This sort of acts as a muscle smoother.

I am very sceptical about those pro-biotic yoghurts, but they might help. Stress is thought to play a part. Many people find that their symptoms worsen during episodes of stress. Studies show that overactivity of the muscles in the gut play a large part and various factors may play a part in this. It could be something to do with messages sent from the brain to the gut.

Food intolerance account for 33-66% of IBS cases but actual allergies are a rare cause, contrary to popular belief.
