Question by : All sorts of health problems!!?
For the last 8 months I’ve been experiencing what I’ve been told to me ocular migraines. But I have these “ocular migraines” constantly. I do not get the migraine headache with it, just the aura – but its all day everyday. Fluorescent lighting makes it worse and its very irritating and distracting. My eyes are also very sensitive to lights, I went to a movie recently that had flashing lights in it and it was actually sort of painful for me, and I had to cover my eyes because of it. My eyes are also bloodshot right now, and have been like that for a few days, but I was using old contacts and I assumed that were just irritated or damaged from it, I put knew ones in about three days ago but the redness hasn’t gone away. My general practitioner gave me a prescription for migraine headache relief, but I don’t get the headaches so I haven’t used it.

Also, I have lower back pain and “trigger points” in my upper back. These trigger points my doctor says are what causes my tension headaches (not migraine). I was also recently diagnosed with Irritable Bowel syndrome (IBS). I also have tingling in my calves and feet.

The reason I mainly am asking about this is my class had a guest presenter today, he was a Tibetan Doctor talking about how they diagnose people. So at the end of class, being curious I asked him to check me for anything. They have ways of listening and feeling your pulse to figure out your illness. He asked me several questions – he figured out that I was having sleeping problems, menstrual problems, and back problems just from my pulse. He then told me that I had a fever of the liver and that it could be treated.

This is a lot of information, but I’m just a little freaked out at being told I have a problem with my liver, he told me not to drink, something that I do but not often. I was on birth control but am off it now b/c my doctors believed that these symptoms were being caused by the birth control. But nothing has changed.
If it wasn’t clear for people, I’m asking if anyone knows what could be wrong with me. I was hoping there would be a health professional that would be on here, or at least someone that may give me an idea. I plan on calling my doctor tomorrow about it.

And I was wondering if maybe someone knew something about Tibetan medicine? And maybe what a liver fever means?

Hi Steve, I have been using coconut oil now for about 10 years and the benefits, well the list is too long to explain here on YH. Try obtaining a book by Bruce Fife, The Miracles of Coconut Oi. This book gives a detailed run down on the benefits of the oil. If you find that you want to obtain some try www.naturepacific.com I have found that they have the best oil I have come across. It is nice to see that there is a Dr willing to suggest it. Have a good day.

Question by Kira C: Can long term Antibiotic use be a danger to my health?
I have been taking Antibiotics for my severe acne since I was about 14 years old. I am now 21, and still taking them. I was just wondering if this could cause any serious side effects? Could it hinder the effectiveness of my immune system, or hurt my intestinal flora (the good bacteria in your intestines)? If so, can I circumvent the killing of the good flora by taking pre-biotics and pro-biotics? I also have Irritable Bowel Syndrome, could the usage of antibiotics worsen my symptoms? I started out by taking tetracycline, but then my body became immune to it, so I now take Septra, which I have been on for the past couple of years now. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

You should discuss this with your dermatologist. Long term oral antibiotics can increase your chance of developing a resistant bacteria or fungal infection.

Question by da_goat887: So is there any health insurance for those with serious medical conditons?
My younger brother who’s only 20 years old has a host of serious illnesses: crohn’s disease, rheumatoid arthritis, irritable bowel syndrome, and a few more conditions that has constantly kept him sick for a good portion of his childhood. He’s missed at least half a school year on a number of occasions, and despite his maturation he’s still heavily affected by his conditions.

Obviously, it’s practically impossible for him to hold a steady job, he’ll work for a while and then he’ll have to take off a month or two just to deal with his illness, with that said he surely won’t have employee health insurance. Currently, he’s using our state’s medicaid, however once he turns 21 he’s no longer eligible for medicaid. With the health care system being the way that it is, is there any possibility that he could continue receiving health care despite his ineligibility? He takes a ton of drugs daily, and even takes some of the same medications that our grandparents take lol.

I know some of you heartless conservatives believe he should provide his own health coverage, but how? His drugs cost thousands, and he’s in the ER constantly, thus making his health-care only affordable to extremely rich individuals. When healthy, he does contribute as much as he possibly can, however for someone in his condition it would be downright shameful if he can’t continue to receive any healthcare.
