Question by : Why am I having this nausea for so long and can’t get rid of it?
First of all, I am 19 years old and I’ve been diagnosed with Irritable Bowel Syndrome. I was 16-17 when I got this diagnosis and the only tests I took were some physical exams, the doctors only touching/pressing on my abdomen. (I am not a woman. Just to exclude the possibility of pregnancy)

Ok, so about 3 years with stool being hard to pass out. A few nausea here and there but they quickly passed. I started to accept the constipation and my quality of life was getting better and better… Now, even though I still have this constipation that doesn’t wants to leave me at all costs, after getting this 7h/day job, I’ve been developing that nausea symptom. I quitted that job after 3 months of working mostly everyday (with a very few days free), staying on foot and watching a store to prevent theft.

It’s almost everyday, sometimes it’s easy on me, sometimes is really struggling to get food I’ve eaten out. I’ve also developed an emetophobia since I was like 12-13 y.o., and since then, I always try to suppress nausea so that it doesn’t get to its next “stage”. I even hate thinking about that word, not just writing it down.

I’ve had a quick endoscopy a week ago, but the doc didn’t found anything; said it’s even better than he expected. He prescribed me 2 sets of medications that are to be taken every 2 weeks. 2 weeks of Controloc (Pantoprazole) Motilium (Domperidonum) and Duspatalin (anti spastic for IBS based on Mebeverine). The other is based on Controloc, Duspatalin, Bilichol (natural, for the liver) and Debridat (Trimebutine).

The symptoms don’t seem to get better, sometimes even worsen. So, any idea what could the causes actually? I’ve been tested for parasites too, no sign of any.

Thank you!
Domperidone is not banned here. I don’t live in the US.

Certain foods cause the gastric build up which in turn causes the nausea.
According to this thread (domperidone + a digestive enzyme) helps someone but one of them ain’t available in the US, so maybe try the net but make sure it’s a reliable source as the net is full of mimics which are dangerous.

Quote: “Delayed gastric emptying caused me to feel nauseous all the time (plus regurgitate most of what I ate)…i take domperidone + a digestive enzyme to help with gastric motility and my nausea is a lot better. There are lots of other explanations too, but it might be worth asking your doc for the test if you haven’t explored.

Quote: “I also take domperidone but not all the time. It is not available in the US, only Reglan is and it is having all kinds of lawsuits over it now and the side effects.”

Question by : Keep on having black stool?
This has happened a lot over the past five months. It’d last a day or two and go away. I went to a doctor a month ago and he said he didn’t feel anything wrong in my stomach, so I have no idea what it is.

I know Pepto can cause this, but I haven’t had any lately and I know iron can do it too, but I have no idea if I’ve had anything with a lot of iron. I haven’t been eating foods that can cause this, so I have no idea what the problem is. I do have Irritable Bowel Syndrome. Could black stool be a symptom? I just have no idea what is wrong with me or why this keeps happening. No one is giving me a straight answer as to what could be going on. Please help.

Question by Christina: Having a lot of stomach and bowel problems, please help before I go to the doctors?
About a year ago I went to a natropath who put me on a detox that cut out any sugar, acidy and fattening food as well as alcohol for one month. I’m not sure if that has anything to do with it. But ever since then, I have not been able to eat anything other than meat and fruit and vegetables.. If I eat anything else like sugary foods, deep fried foods, creamy foods, including milk or soy milk, I get horrible stomach pain normally just below the chest, not lower stomach, and then pass bowels that have runny consistancy. (sorry guys)… It has been happening for a year. I know this must seem awesome to some people cos I have lost alot of weight and I’m fitter but i have to constantly watch what I eat ALL THE TIME and can never get take away or eat at someones house. I also get free coffee given to me all the time at work and have to drink it to be polite and I end up on the toilet :( :( Does anyone else have this or something similar? Is it irritable bowel syndrome?? I am trying to avoid paying $ 50 to see a doctor… (stingey I know but I’m a poor uni student)

Question by Amanda: Does having a bowel obstruction during pregnancy effect the baby?
I’m 12 weeks pregnant and i was born with IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) Now that i’m pregnant it’s 5 times worse and i can go a week and a half without going and i feel pain and pressure in my bowels and was concerned if that pressure from my bowels expanding would be pushing on the baby or stressing it. I’m very scared, nothing helps me go (suppositories, enema, prune juice, water, etc..) except laxatives and i’ve learned not to take those anymore. Should i be worried that this is putting effect on my unborn baby? How can i explain this to my doctor on wed. sep 28th, 2011? Please help!
FEEDBACK:

Thank you guys so much! I even apologize to the baby everyday “Mommy’s sorry” sounds crazy, but i do. I feel so bad for the both of us. It’s been two weeks now and i’m worried. No wonder i’ve been so nauseated. Poor little thing just wants nutrition. Doctors appointment today, wish me luck!

IBS can affect your pregnancy by causing preterm labor.

Are you taking regular fiber supplementation? This will help keep you fairly regular. You could try Benefiber tablets, take 3 twice a day. I have IBS and the fiber taken regularly has helped a lot.

Highly recommend you monitor your BMs and report this activity to your OB on the next visit. The doc may recommend softeners and diet modification (more fiber).

Good luck!
