Question by : What is going on with my Stomach?!?
My stomach problems started around the first of March. It is all kind of hard to explain, but I will do my best to list the symptoms. When it started it was mostly in my upper abdomen and I had feelings of fullness and what I think of as nausea. I didn’t exactly feel like I had to throw up, but I felt really sick. I would be gassy and constipated and then it would change to loose bowel movements. This would last a few days or a week then go away. It has come and gone once or twice since March. This last little episode seems different though. It has been going on for about a week I guess. I had the same feelings of fullness, nausea, lots of gas and constipation. What is different is that I am also having some lower abdominal pain that feels a lot like menstural cramps or cramps like with diarrhea. They are not really sharp or horribly painful, they are dull and achy. They are pretty much constant through out the day and will sometimes have waves where they will get a little stronger and then go back to how they were. I had a pretty bad headache for 2 or 3 days that Advil and Aleve didn’t touch. Not a migrain or anything, but really uncomfortable. My back has also been hurting. It is mostly in my lower back, but I noticed today that it moved to the middle left side. It feels like the muscles are really tight and almost like there is a lot of preassure on my back. I am just wondering if this is something as simple as Irritable Bowel Syndrome, or if it is something more serious like Crohns. I am also wondering if the new symptoms could be an early sign of pregnancy. I feel like that might be a stretch, but I am just throwing stuff out there. I am on the Ortho Evera birth control patch so I shouldn’t be pregnant, but I did have a patch peel off and have to be replaced a week and a half ago or so. It does not seem like eating or not eating certain things makes a difference. Sitting, standing or laying down doesn’t seem to make it better or worse. Tums and pepto don’t help. I am just tired of feeling like crap. I work 7 days a week and my husband and I can’t afford health insurance so I am hoping that maybe someone out there in internet land could help. If anyone else out there has the same problems, or just some ideas of what might be causing it, or help it to go away I would appreciate it SO much. Thank you!
Thanks for all of the advice. I have tried the pepcid AC and it didn’t do a thing either. As far as the “tooting” that hasn’t really been a problem. I am having a lot of gas, but for the most part it is passing fine :-) I have been on the on the birth control for about 5 years and never had problems with it, so I really don’t think that is is. As far as the working to much, that isn’t going to change any time soon. My husband and I own our own buisness and we are the only employees. Health insurance is pretty much not an option for us. I did a little reading on the Somatic Symptoms and that really stood out to me. Also I almost forgot that my last period was a little odd compared to what it usually is. It was a little heavier than normal and a day or day 1/2 longer than usual. I figured that was because of the patch peeling off earlier in the week. I haven’t missed any periods, but I think even if my next period comes on normal I will take a HPT just to make sure. If it is negative the

Question by Nicole M: Am I just going crazy?
For about 2 years now I’ve been getting severe stomach aches everyday. I also get numb/tingling feeling in my hands and feet and occasionally pass out with the pains. I went to the doctor and he passed it off as irritable bowel syndrome, and gave me pills to help treat it. Obviously, it wasn’t IBS, none of the symptoms match. I went back after another month of taking the pills and no results, and I went to have a colonoscopy and an EDG. They took a biopsy and found nothing. I’m not asking for a diagnosis, but does anyone have any idea what it possibly could be (or what I should do)?

It could be MS.
I would go to the neurologist, not a GI doctor to get things ruled out.

Question by BLiTZ: Stomach cramps/pains, problems going to the toilet, what will solve this problem?
Oh, before anyone reads this too, i’m only writing this on here because obviously people write all sorts of random stuff on here so yeah I just want to know if anyone has anything USEFUL that could possibly help me. Thanks.

Well i’m on a small dose of trileptal for mild epilepsy, which has been fully controlled for several years now, but the side effects from this drug have really caused me a lot of problems over the last few years and i’m certain the drug is the reason my stomach is so messed up. I’m 19 by the way.

Basically, most mornings, like 6/7 or something, I wake up with a fair amount of gas, and I need to go to to the toilet basically, problem is, if I go to the toilet, every time it’s literally similar to diarrhoea but worse and I take around 10 minutes maybe more most of the time. If I don’t go to the toilet and hold it in though, till like the evening or even around midnight, (which I can do because sometimes the feeling just goes away like I don’t need to go as much) when I crap i’ll put it this way, it’s a lot more normal and properly formed, like a crap should look like basically.

Still though, even after I go to the toilet, be it morning or midnight, and especially the evening, my stomach is no better sometimes and i’ll either have a fair bit of gas or my stomach will just cause me pain, like it’s doing right now. So, most of the time, I hate going to the toilet in the morning so much and feel like I have to shower after every crap I do, I just hold it in till before I go to bed, where it comes out more naturally. I do only go to the toilet like once a day too so I don’t have to go several times a day.

Thing is though, I just want to be able to either get up in the morning, and IF I need the toilet, to get in there, do a regular crap and get out quickly, or to not even have to wake up with a stomach that feels like it’s gonna explode. Maybe my digestion is really slowed down under this stupid drug?

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can take or what should I do to make the problem better or even cure it? I tried some pills from an online health shop which have natural vitamins and minerals in, including peppermint oil and fennel, they say the pills are for soothing symptons of irritable bowel syndrome but i’ve been taking them for 3 weeks now and they’ve done nothing at all.

I’ve had ginger tea and peppermint tea before too but there’s little or no difference really. I do exercise too, I am of a healthy weight with a healthy BMI, I eat no junk food and my diet consists of porridge most mornings, sandwich at lunch, with lean meat/fish and something healthy for dinner, I eat 1 or 2 apples a day and I drink a lot of water, but not a ridiculous amount of water, so I don’t see how my diet is doing any of this!?!?

Has anyone got anything that could just possibly help me, I just went to the toilet like 2 hours ago and my stomach is hurting fgs, i’m sick of this!

Thanks
EDIT: Well omi jen and anyone else reading this, if anything, it isn’t diarrhoea I have in the morning, but it’s probably worse in a different way. I just go to crap and it’s runny poop pretty much, so not pleasant, no. So yeah in terms of diarrhoea I don’t have it properly like ever, it’s just horrible runny poop.

Sounds like you have irritable bowel problems… Personally, can’t really understand, how you can hold in a diarrhea bowel movement….
Here is a good suggestion…yes…. sounds nuts, but, for some reason has worked with many people……Eat licorice.in the evening..BLACK ONLY 2-3 long sticks or a big handful of the small nibs or more if you really enjoy it…
Not only seems to help with gas, but, actually firms up the poopie. Sometimes the old fashioned stuff works better than all the expensive drugs.
What the heck….the worst that can happen is that you enjoyed a nice sweet treat…But be patient and see if it makes a difference over a few weeks..If none of that helps…Talk to your Doctor and get some help…This sounds really uncomfortable…Good Luck
