Question by Ben: Can you help me figure out what is wrong? I’ll give you the symptoms?
Ok so this year has been a stressful one, considering I am competing to get into medical school. My diet has not been the best, and my exercise level is very minimal. In saying that, I wouldn’t say I am unfit. I can still run without passing out lol.

Now, I’ve been experiencing a few things this year, most of which have increased recently, and here are a few:

- I pee way too much (like at least twice an hour)
- I am having dull aching pains in my middle- lower abdomen and back region
Sometimes that pain radiates up to my arms and shoulders?
- My arm just goes numb every now and then
- I have acid reflux (sometimes almost all the way up to my throat)
- My feet become swollen (not very swollen but swollen) when I walk perhaps for 15 minutes straight?

Those are the most important, annoying symptoms I can think of. Although I am a pre-med student, I have no idea what this could be. I was thinking maybe a urinary tract infection or irritable bowel syndrome? But then I don’t understand the acid reflux. Can someone please advise?

Btw, I am 18 years old. 193 cm and weigh 105 Kg.

Thanks for your help guys

Answer by Brad
My guess would be the urinary tract infection or possibly kidney disease?

Question by wonder.bread11: Is there a web site that would give a menu for 7 days (for my grandchildren’s visit.?
I’m sure there are organizations who feed meals 3 times a day. It would be so much easier to just copy a week’s menu from something like that. My grandson already has Irritable Bowel Syndrome. They eat lots of sugar – I want to try and get as many fruits and vegetables into them while they’re here. My grandson is 11 and eats an unbelievable amount of food although he’s not heavy. Any suggestions – or websites? Thank you!!

Answer by Amy
I encourage you to stick as much as possible to the kinds of things they like to eat while trying to sneak in as many fruits and veggies as possible and cut out the sugar. You can probably make healthier versions of whatever they like. I have a few suggestions. You can’t completely change their diet in 7 days. My grandma thought I was spoiled so whenever she got the chance she would try to discipline me the way she thought I should be. It only made me terrified of my grandma.

Healthy Spaghetti and Meatballs
2 12-ounce to 14-ounce jars of your favorite marinara sauce
2 slices of your favorite sandwich bread
3/4 cup water
1/2 pound ground hamburger 93% lean
1/2 pound ground turkey
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese, plus more for serving
1 large egg
1/2 small onion, finely minced
1 Tbls parsley
1 tsp basil
1 tsp oregano
1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes
8 ounces whole-wheat spaghetti

1. Heat marinara sauce in a large, wide pot over medium heat. Cover to prevent splattering.

2. Remove crusts from bread, place bread in a medium bowl and pour water over. Let sit 10 minutes, and gently squeeze out excess liquid. Put bread in a large bowl; discard water.

3. Add the ground meats, cheese, egg, onion, parsley, basil, oregano, and red pepper flakes to bowl with bread. Gently toss to combine, maintaining a light touch to keep air in the meatballs (don’t squish the meat too much, or you’ll end up with tough meatballs). Roll the meat mixture in your hands to create meatballs slightly larger than a golf ball.

4. Remove marinara sauce from heat to prevent splattering, and gently drop the meatballs in the warm sauce. Return tomato sauce to medium-low heat, bring to a simmer and cook, covered, until meatballs have cooked through, about 30 minutes.

5. Cook pasta according to package directions, toss with marinara sauce and top with meatballs.

Chicken Pot Pie – We love this one. It doesn’t take any time to throw together and it’s delicious. Be sure to read the note at the end or the crust may not turn out well.
2 cps cooked chicken chunks – I usually use chicken leftover from a previous meal
¾ cp frozen corn
½ can green beans
¾ cp frozen sliced carrots
¼ cp frozen peas
1 jar Heinz Chicken Gravy

1 ¾ cp Bisquick
1 egg
2/3 cp milk

Preheat the oven to 375*

In a med bowl stir together the chicken chunks, corn, green beans, carrots and gravy. Set aside. 2 ½ cps of any fresh, canned or frozen veggies can be used.

In another bowl mix the Bisquick with the egg and milk. Stirring just till blended.

Spray a deep dish pie pan with cooking spray. (It can also be cooked in 4 smaller single serving dishes, 10-12 oz size) Spoon the chicken gravy mixture into the prepared pan. Spoon the Bisquick mixture over the filling.

IMPORTANT DO NOT try to put the top crust it in the middle and spread it out. It will be too thick in the middle to cook through. You must put spoonfuls around the edges, maybe an inch or so apart and then a spoonful or two in the middle. Spread it out as evenly as possible. Bake 25 min or until the crust is golden brown.

Oven Chicken Nuggets – these are way better than fast food nuggets or store bought frozen ones
2 skinless boneless chicken breasts
1 ½ cps Sour Cream and Chive Potato Chips, crushed
1 cp Ranch dressing

Preheat oven to 350*. Trim chicken breasts of all fat and cut into chunks. Put the Ranch dressing in a baggie, add the chicken chunks – seal and make sure the chicken is covered in dressing. Let it marinade for 10 min, turn over for another 10 min,

Put the chips in a baggie and smash as fine as you like. Remove the chicken from the dressing and toss it in with the chips. Spray a baking sheet with cooking spray.

Remove the chicken from the chips and place the chicken chunks on the baking sheet. Bake 20-25 min or until chicken is done through.

Oven Fries – I love fries and these are much healthier than those from your favorite fast food place but just as delicious – better than some.

2 med baking potatoes (great with yams also)
½ tablespoon olive oil
1 pinch white sugar – helps with browning
1 pinch ground cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon Salad Supreme

Preheat oven to 450 degrees. Line a baking sheet with foil, and coat well with cooking spray. Scrub potatoes well, peel or not as you like and cut into 1/2 inch thick fries. Place cut fries in a lrg bowl.

Sprinkle with the olive oil, sugar and seasonings, toss to coat all fries evenly. Spread on baking sheet in one layer.

After 20 minutes, remove from oven and turn fries with a pancake turner. This will help them brown evenly and keep them from sticking. Bake another 10 minutes, until potatoes are tender and browned. Serve immediately.

Question by honey: I want to give my son probiotics…how much?
My son is 5. I want to start giving him probiotics daily but am not sure of how much and how often. I would really like to go to a homeopath in our area, but at this time we cant afford it. I know they can help wit so many issues and are good to take. So if you have suggestions, I would like to hear them. thanks.
thanks, i wish he would eat yogurt. He has issues with different textures of food so his diet isnt the greatest, we have been battling this since he was an infant. I feel he may have a “leaky gut” and the probiotics may help.

Answer by ckngbbbls
does he like yogurt? Good, simple yogurts without all the extra stuff is a great way to get a kid to eat probiotics and is more natural thatn pills and powders.
They are the same bacteria that is already in our digestive systems.
Read the labels of yogurt or make your own. My local grocery store carries many types and brands, some with pectin and starch and coloring and all kinds of stuff and then the plain ones with just some vanilla but lots of active cultures, which are probiotics.

What do you think? Answer below!

Question by Dianne S: Should I give my horse probiotics while he’s on antibiotics?
My horse is on a very long course of antibiotics. I wormed him and gave him probiotics about a week before the vet prescribed the antibiotics. Should I give him more probios while he’s on the antibiotics, or is it a waste? Will the antibiotics just kill off the probios? Should I wait until he’s finished with the course of antibiotics before I give him more probios, or give it to him during the antibiotic treatment?
I have a friend who had a horse that was deathly ill and thought she would lose her. None of the vets treatment was working. She stopped all meds and told the horse that if it was her time to “go” that would be okay. She decided to try probios as one last ditch attempt and the horse bounced back amazingly fast! She regained the 200 lbs she lost and is being ridden again!
My vet agrees that probios are very beneficial. I know that they are for humans, I’ve worked for two colon therapists over the past 7 years. I tend not to follow the traditional medical establishment most of the time anyway since I know how money oriented it is and I believe the veteranary field is headed in the same direction.

If The Vet Comes Again Ask And Check With Him.

If He Doesn’t Come Then I Would Wait Until He Is Finished With The Antibio’s And Then Give Him the Probio’s.

Hope This Helps x x
