Question by Sophia23: Embarrassing, noisy gas problem. Does anyone else ever have really noisy “wind” that sounds like gun shots? It
is really embarrassing if it happens when in a public toilet. I have a form of irritable bowel syndrome, or so it seems, and I am wondering if that would be a common symptom of that?
Yeah, I know it’s nasty, and would like to hear from other IBS sufferers in particular.

Answer by oldtimekid
That’s not a common symptom of IBS (both my mother and brother have it), and I can’t think of any ailment that could cause louder gas.

If you have a lot of gas though, it’s likely that it’s from improper digestion (if it’s not caused by an illness). If you aren’t digesting certain foods well enough, it commonly causes gas. The easiest way to help that would be to take a good enzyme complex to help digest those foods so you don’t get the gas in the first place. Good luck!

Question by DeepJedi: Does reading answers given on this site ever make *you* angry?
I’ve found that many of the answers given here actually generate genuine and unpleasant physiological reponses in my body that I can feel affecting me negatively for a long while afterwards, sometimes even for days. Now it’s a known fact that if a person becomes stressed out, or experiences some emotion like anger, it must be expressed in some way or it will be stored away (repressed), and that this process can cause actual ill health such as tension headaches, irritable bowel syndrome, indigestion, high blood pressure, et al.
Has anyone else considered the possible negative energy that such a website causes? Has anyone considered *any* aspect of the negative affects of the internet on society? Example: a person makes an effort with an answer, puts a lot of thought into it, and then gets numerous ‘thumbs down’ etc. He feels angry and hurt and then has to drive somewhere; he is more likely to get involved in a ‘road rage’ incident, isn’t he?
Boxotricks: No, no sermon, just wondering; and thanks for your words of wisdom.
Boxotricks: Sorry, I misread you (thought you’d asked me if *I* was sermonising!).
Note for all: I’ve experienced very few answers that could be taken personally, and I realise that one mustn’t take these to heart. So I’m not feeling attacked, just sometimes I read answers (and questions for that matter) that indicate some real nutcases, misguided individuals, pompous ‘jerks’, etc. e.g. ‘Top contributor’ Beth who arrogantly makes one of those ‘get a life’ comments. I can take that, but that’s an attitude guaranteed to create conflict, not with me, but between herself and others; it’s off-handedly inconsiderate. It’s *that* sort of thing that can wind me up and for me, pulling faces at the monitor doesn’t alleviate it. I’d rather learn to manage myself better than start avoiding things.

I think it’s moreso sad in a fact that you let people who…

- You’ve never met
- Probably won’t ever meet
- People you don’t even know what they look like

…bother you. These people don’t mean anything, man! This site is for points, haha, not social situations.

Plus, if you put a lot of thought and people still give you thumb downs, think about that “thought” you put up and you might actually look to see you were typing nonsense or something totally ridiculous.

Cheer up. Life and your emotional health should not rely on a Yahoo! site!

Question by Question Queen Mentally Special!: If you suffer an anxiety disorder or OCD, has anyone ever falsely accused you of being a hypochondriac?
What’s your experience? I suffer OCD, Anxiety, depression, & Tourette’s. Certain medications for these illnesses bring on either more illnesses, or aches & pains. My doc told me that anxiety is why I’m suffering Irritable Bowel Syndrome. It creeps up on you unexpectedly, & your stomach starts hurting worse & WORSE by the second, & then your digestive system is backed up because you’re constipated with hard stools, & once those come out, it’s diarrhea. 1 time it was so bad that my system was so stopped up that I had to vomit because I was so constipated & bloated. (Sorry to be so graphic, but some people don’t know what IBS feels like. That’s why I’m explaining in detail so you can understand.) You sometimes wonder if that’s the last moments of your life when experiencing this. & That’s so painful it’s NO joke! If I have a task I have to perform, & this pops up, people think I’m a hypochondriac faking for attention, when I’m not. This IBS is DEBILITATING.

natural things do not cause more complications, like some of the medicines (there are enzymes and probiotics to help with the bowel problems, eat fruit and vegetables, drink lots of water
