Endometriosis can’t kill you, so there’s no reason to be scared. Many women have it and live perfectly normal lives. Common treatments include use of birth control and laparoscopy to remove endometrosis lesions, though they can grow back.

Question by : Could this be endometriosis?
My mother has endometriosis, and I’m worried that I could have it too. I’m 14, and I know it usually occurs in older women but i’m still concerned. These are some of the symptoms I have..
- When I wake up in the morning I sometime get really bad pains, almost like period pains but so bad that I don’t want to move or breath because of it. Sometimes I feel like I can’t get out of bed. This happens when I haven’t even got my period at all. It’s definately not hunger pangs.
- I feel tired almost all of the time, but not tired like sleepy but more exhausted and weary.
- It also seems like I have Irritable bowel syndrome, which I think can be associated with endometriosis.
- I have really irregular periods. About 2 years ago I started my periods, didn’t get another until January or February this year. I don’t know if this has anything at all to do with it though. I’m a healthy weight and I don’t do too much exercise either.
- I used to get sharp pains in my back, but near my shoulders not lower back. I haven’t had any recently though so I don’t think it’s anything to do with it.
Do you think there’s a chance that I have it? I’m really nervous, I’ve told my mum but we haven’t talked about seeing a doctor yet.

Yes it could be possible I know a couple girls 16 & 18 that had it, you should be checked it can be very dangerous if not diagnosed.

Question by : Do I have Endometriosis?
I know the only real way to know is through a doctor but I was hoping someone could just shed a little light on me. During the first 1 or 2 days of my period, I have painful bowel movements. Not necessarily while actually using the bathroom, but even while the bowels are still moving through out the lower intestines. Even just gas moving though, if I’m in a somewhat curled position it feels painful. Like my insides are stretching. Or like my uterus is going to explode. Now, I do have irritable bowel syndrome, and I’m still to be tested if I have inflammation in my intestines, but I read a little about Endometriosis. I don’t think my symptoms are serious enough, but you never know. Could I have it? Or is this pain normal?

I’m not a doctor, so I can’t say for sure, but it doesn’t sound like it. You definitely should get checked, though; it will ease your mind to know for sure.

In the meantime, you might go to www.webmd.com and look up endometriosis. That site is written by doctors and has some really good information on it. It’s not a substitute for a doctor, but at least you can see what all the symptoms are.

Question by Jamie: Question and advice from Endometriosis sufferers ?
Hi there I am a 28 year old female who was diagnosed with severe endometriosis about 9 years ago through laporscopic surgery, tomorrow I am having another laporscopic surgery done due to a lot of recent problems and pain from the endo. I am concerned that it is possibly on the bladder and maybe colon. When I urinate I have to push really hard to empty the bladder and I have frequent urination, can this be a cause of endo on the bladder? There is no burning or itching and urine test come back negative for bacteria or infection. Also, I have what they call Irritable Bowel Syndrome but can this be because of endo on the colon that causes my irregular bowel movements and also bleeding in the bowel. Should I make it a point to have the doctor check these areas very closely? Has anyone had endo in these area and what are the symptoms and treatments? Thank you

I’m really not sure about your question.
I am having a laproscopy next Monday to determine whether I have endo.
I have asked questions about it on here but no one seems to answer what I am asking. How do you feel after the surgery and how long does it take until you feel better?
x

Question by That girl: Do you think there is a link between endometriosis and anxiety?
It seems the 2 go hand in hand. I also read that 100% of endometriosis patients have irritable bowel syndrome symptoms if the tissue is attached elsewhere… Interesting.

Answer by Starkissed
Endometriosis is an over growth of the lining of the uterus. Of course if the tissues get into the stomach cavity it is going to screw up the GI tract. It doesn’t have anything to do with anxiety.
