Question by : Diarrhea, gas, and stomach pain?
My friend is too embarrassed to ask this himself, but it does make me wonder because I had faced this years ago. He has an ironclad stomach, but sometimes it doesn’t handle “everything”. He had came back home from a long trip and rummaged through the fridge to find a piece of fried fish which that age was unsure. Instead of using common sense and throwing it away, he decides to consume it to make sure of the freshness or possibly poor condition of the meat. Guess what happened shortly after…
Regardless of his stupid decision, I suggested he take pink bismuth/pepto bismol for his upset stomach(that’s what helped me when I had diarrhea). Unfortunately he had done this, as well consume ginger as to help his upset stomach, to which either case didn’t help. I asked him to check with a doc, but he is stubborn and refuses since he doesn’t have insurance.
He described his symptoms simply as:
gassy (stomach rumbles extremely loud, I am also witness to that)
diarrhea
stomach pain(presumably from the gas)
He is dreading Irritable Bowel Syndrome( I highly doubt that, plus its not in his family history supposedly), aside from that, he claimed that his stomach rumbles violently after he eats something, and then gas pains occur, then followed with diarrhea.
What I’m trying to ask is, given the situation, the Diarrhea is triggered from the bad fish(most likely food poisoning?). What can he do, aside from seeing the “dreaded” doctor, to overcome this problem? He said he can use castor oil, but thats for when you are constipated, that would only make matters worse. If the problem is in his stomache, is there any way to flush it from his system?

Question by : (This is embarrassing)… bad stomach cramps and explosive diarrhea?
Save me some embarrassment, and if you feel you won’t reply maturely, don’t bother please?
I keep getting a sharp pain below my bellybutton, and then it spreads to my sides and stops at the top of my hip bones and turns into a massive cramp. Then I feel the need to go the toilet, and when I go my belly makes a growling sound (kind of like when you’re hungry?) and it’s really bad.
My bottom is really sore as well, and blood appears when I wipe because I’m using normal tissue paper. Then I have the urge to go again 5 to 10 minutes later. :\
I’m drinking plenty of water and taking my Irritable Bowel Syndrome medication.
If this is any help, I think I have a cold / the flu? My body is burning hot, yet freezing cold at the same time and my joints ache all over. So it’s only a few symptoms so far.
Any help? :\

With severe diarrhea, don’t just drink water. Drink sports drinks to keep your electrolytes up. Take your temperature to make sure you aren’t running a fever (though it sounds like you are). And go see a doctor. The earlier you treat the illness, the better.
And for the raw bottom, vaseline/petroleum jelly. Wipe with moistened toilet paper.

Question by stvnhthr: What works for night time diarrhea caused by IBS? ?
I’m mainly on a diet of oatmeal, applesauce and beats. I’ve been prescribed Dicyclomine, and I take Imodium, probiotics and fiber supplements as well. I usually get between 2-4 hours of sleep before the diarrhea wakes me up and then after an hour or two I’m able to get back to sleep.
I’ve tried pepto, it helps my stomach but does not stop the diarrhea.
I’m not supposed to have dairy products so cheese is out.

Acute diarrhea is usually related to a bacterial, viral, or parasitic infection. Chronic diarrhea is usually related to functional disorders such as irritable bowel syndrome or inflammatory bowel disease.
