Question by Ask Anything: Can I rely on my birth control pill?
I have Irritable Bowel Syndrome and get diarrhea every so often. Can I rely on just my birth control pill to prevent pregnancy? Or will my IBS make it less effective?

Unfortunately, if you get diarrhea it is advised that you take another form of birth control because your body won’t have a chance to digest the hormones. I would try something like the depo provera patch, the shot, IUD, or implant. Or, keep your pills and pair them with condoms.
When it comes to something like pregnancy, I just wouldn’t risk it.

I’ve read and heard that some antibiotics weaken birth control and prevent it from working properly…well, I was wondering if taking Probiotics along with birth control would inhibitit from working, as well. I really like taking a daily Probiotic because I swear by it. It makes my stomach just feel better and I really don’t want to give that up.

I’m taking birth control pills, but I want to also take some probiotics to control any yeast infections. I need to know if probiotics take away from the effectiveness of birth control pills.
