Question by : Never been pregnant before, but think I might be… What do you think?
Okay so I am eighteen. I know that younger adults tend to be more fertile that older adults. I, regretfully, had way too much fun at my birthday party this year, and I think I might be pregnant. I always get the same symptoms before my period: I get that really intense feeling of cramps, and my stomach is just sore. My last period was August 5th, and I always get my symptoms a week before my period. My period is due next week and I am having no symptoms of my period at all. Instead, they’ve all been replaced with other weird happenings. For example: three times in the past two weeks, I have gotten these earsplitting headaches- however, they don’t just go away after a bit. My head will hurt for about ten minutes, and then it feels like I’m in high altitude and it gets all pressurized. Then, without warning, about ten minutes later, my nose starts pouring blood from both nostrils. That’s happened as I said three times the last two weeks. I am a person with irritable bowel syndrome as well, so I NEVER have a problem with constipation. Everything “goes right through me”. However, this past week and a half, I’ve been so constipated its not funny. I never used to have vaginal discharge before and now I’ve had it every day for the past week and a half. I’ve just felt kinda “blah” the last few days. I don’t feel good, but it isn’t unbearable. But then I have times I feel like I wanna throw up but don’t. My tummy has just felt kinda odd lately. I am sooooo much more tired lately. It’s like I just can’t get enough sleep and my body gets weak easy. I took a home test about a week ago, and it was negative. I was told that it was too early to test yet. What do you think??
Best answer:
Answer by i love kittens It sounds like a possibility! Wait until your next period’s due date, and if you don’t get it, wait 2 more days and then take a test. And if it’s still negative and you don’t get your period, go to Planned Parenthood or see a doctor!
goodluck!

Question by Christina: Having a lot of stomach and bowel problems, please help before I go to the doctors?
About a year ago I went to a natropath who put me on a detox that cut out any sugar, acidy and fattening food as well as alcohol for one month. I’m not sure if that has anything to do with it. But ever since then, I have not been able to eat anything other than meat and fruit and vegetables.. If I eat anything else like sugary foods, deep fried foods, creamy foods, including milk or soy milk, I get horrible stomach pain normally just below the chest, not lower stomach, and then pass bowels that have runny consistancy. (sorry guys)… It has been happening for a year. I know this must seem awesome to some people cos I have lost alot of weight and I’m fitter but i have to constantly watch what I eat ALL THE TIME and can never get take away or eat at someones house. I also get free coffee given to me all the time at work and have to drink it to be polite and I end up on the toilet :( Does anyone else have this or something similar? Is it irritable bowel syndrome?? I am trying to avoid paying $ 50 to see a doctor… (stingey I know but I’m a poor uni student)

Question by Baller 4 Life: I take dump every morning before school and for the past few weeks, I’ve had to take dumps at school too..WTF?
I have Irritable Bowel Syndrome. But still, if I take a dump before school, I should be good for at least the end of school. But for the past few weeks, I’ve been scared that I have to take a dump at school and I end up taking one. How can I stop being scared that I have to take a dump at school? I hate this!!
Best answer:
Answer by Men’s Health Don’t be scared. its good taking a dump. It gets all the bacteria and the bad residue out of your system. Same thing with urinating. Taking a dump consistently shows that you have a good amount fiber level.

Question by scary shari: ACUPUNCTURE: feeling worse before I feel better (mood)?
I started getting acupuncture 2 or 3 weeks ago. I’ve done a TON of research on it and am very impressed w/ the variety of health & wellness issue it can help. My main ones are insomnia, anxiety, depression, ADHD, asthma, acid reflux, and irritable bowel syndrome. None are severe (thankfully!) although some are more problematic than others.
My question: within the last week, I’ve noticed my mood is lower than it normally is. It’s not like I walk around crying, and I don’t act bitchy. I just feel less happy than usual, a little bit “blue”, and less motivated to do things. It’s not severe, but I can tell it’s different than my usual way of feeling.
My acupuncturist said stuff like this happens to some folks during their first few weeks of treatment, because changes are going on in the body that it’s not used to, and sometimes that makes a person feel “unbalanced” (for lack of a better word).
Anyone else notice changes like this upon starting acupuncture? If so, for how long?
P.S. (I ran out of room above) — For those who are familiar with the “retracing” phenomenon that happens to some people when they first start going to a CHIROPRACTOR (it sure happened with me!), would you say that what I described with acupuncture is a similar concept? It seems to me that it is.
P.P.S. To Heaven L and others who feel as she does — I’m not claiming acupuncture can CURE my ailments, or anybody’s. I said it can HELP the ailments. As in, improve them. And there really is a wealth of information, including scientific tests/experiements, that PROVE how acupuncture can help certain ailments, especially chronic pain.
Heck, anything that has been academically studied and professionall practiced for more than 2000 years, and is STILL in use today, is not simply quackery! Look it up on Wikipedia and prepare to be impressed.
amembal4444 is right; this would all be in better perspective if I included my age. I am 35. No menopause symptoms in sight — my menstrual cycle is as regular now as it was at age 25.

Question by Advice Girl: Pain before bowel movement?
About once every few weeks I get a very severe pain in my lower abdomen, where I feel like I need to rush to the bathroom. After I have a bowel movement (which is normal and is not constipation or diarrhea) the pain subsides and I’m ok. The pain is really bad to the point where I need a bathroom right away. I’m pretty sure this is just Irritable Bowel Syndrome since I have seen my doctor and have had pretty much every test done and they all came out normal. My question is, is there any way to prevent this abdominal pain? Does this ever happen to regular people? I’m so afraid to travel places in case this happens when I’m stuck in traffic and I can’t get to a bathroom. Can anyone give me any advice?
Best answer:
Answer by Alexandra I’ve had IBS since I was in my 20’s and I know exactly what you are talking about. There’s this horrible cramp that makes you almost double over. It’s happened to me in the middle of conversations, stores, etc. It scares people half to death when it happens because you can’t even talk, you’re hurting so bad – or at least that is how it is with me.
The only things that I have found out that helps is first and foremost
Drink a LOT of water. Dehydration seems to make this worse.
and also, make sure that you have a lot of fiber in your diet, like fruits and vegetables. Water is the number one cure though.
Hope this helps and I feel for you, believe me.
