Question by : Never been pregnant before, but think I might be… What do you think?
Okay so I am eighteen. I know that younger adults tend to be more fertile that older adults. I, regretfully, had way too much fun at my birthday party this year, and I think I might be pregnant. I always get the same symptoms before my period: I get that really intense feeling of cramps, and my stomach is just sore. My last period was August 5th, and I always get my symptoms a week before my period. My period is due next week and I am having no symptoms of my period at all. Instead, they’ve all been replaced with other weird happenings. For example: three times in the past two weeks, I have gotten these earsplitting headaches- however, they don’t just go away after a bit. My head will hurt for about ten minutes, and then it feels like I’m in high altitude and it gets all pressurized. Then, without warning, about ten minutes later, my nose starts pouring blood from both nostrils. That’s happened as I said three times the last two weeks. I am a person with irritable bowel syndrome as well, so I NEVER have a problem with constipation. Everything “goes right through me”. However, this past week and a half, I’ve been so constipated its not funny. I never used to have vaginal discharge before and now I’ve had it every day for the past week and a half. I’ve just felt kinda “blah” the last few days. I don’t feel good, but it isn’t unbearable. But then I have times I feel like I wanna throw up but don’t. My tummy has just felt kinda odd lately. I am sooooo much more tired lately. It’s like I just can’t get enough sleep and my body gets weak easy. I took a home test about a week ago, and it was negative. I was told that it was too early to test yet. What do you think??
Best answer:
Answer by i love kittens It sounds like a possibility! Wait until your next period’s due date, and if you don’t get it, wait 2 more days and then take a test. And if it’s still negative and you don’t get your period, go to Planned Parenthood or see a doctor!
goodluck!

Question by Sweet Lovely Sara Boo: I have been sick for 8 months?
I turned 16 years old in April. Last October, I got sick with what we thought was the swine flu and I never recovered. I was very healthy; slim, 5′4″ dancer, and about 116 lbs. I got sick with a horrible stomach virus. I always had the gagging urge in the back of my throat, but when I would throw up, only very small amounts of acid would come up. I kept a migraine headache, and my nose would bleed four and five times a day. I went to the doctor, and he did a swine flu swab that came back positive. He said come back in three weeks if you aren’t better. Three weeks, I was back at the doctor. I still had some appetite, but the vomiting was still there. I had also developed a scaly oozing rash then went down the back of my legs. And I was having panic attacks [daily] for the first time in my life. I went back to the doctor, he prescribed me zoloft for anxiety, zofran for the nausea and vomiting, and omeprazole for stomach spasm. On Christmas, I was taken to the urgent care because I had been throwing up then collapsed and was out for over ten minutes. In two and half months I had gone from 116 lbs to 99.6.
I am a competition dancer, and we have three hour practices 5 times a week. It is very challenging and physically demanding, but I love it. Dancing is my life. When I got sick, I had to quit. I missed four months. This was the first time I had missed a practice in 3 years.
While at the hospital, they ran bloodwork for everything from food allergies to Chrones disease. My food allergies came back, and I am allergic to soy, malt, oat, peanut butter, corn starch/powder, and whey. Those were the top 6, ALL of which had developed over the last 6 months [ I had recently had a physical].
The tests for Mono, Chrones disease and Celiac disease were all negative, and my white cell count was atill on the low side of normal, so an endoscopy and colonoscopy was called for. Everything looked normal except for my esophogus, which was irritated and inflamed due to the acid. When they did an ultrasound, my gallbladder was severly contracted, causing me a lot of pain, put it still looked normal [no inflamation or infection].
By the end of January, I was down to 83 lbs. I was on 7 medications, 16 pills per day, all treating the illness symptomatically. I was diagnosed with IBS [irritable bowel syndrome] and prescribed the highest safe dose of lexapro for anxiety. My sysmptoms now included, but were not limited to dizziness/vertigo, nausea, vimoiting, fatigue, loss of appetite, extreme hair loss, nosebleeds, weight loss, stomach cramps, shaking, muscle cramps/spasms [lasting for up to an hour], insomnia, joint pain, anemia, and I had not had a period since October, the week before I got sick. Everything led back to Celiac disease, when my doctors seemed insistant upon, other than the MAIN factor that I was not allergic to wheat [gluton], the cause of Celiac.
Now it is June, and I am still sick. I am back up to 100 lbs, and I can dance in very small amounts again, but most of the symptoms remain. I take Zofran and phenergan for nausea and vomiting, but it only works occasionally. The lexapro has helped with the anxiety attacks, but only to an extent. I have another dozen medications for my symptoms.
I’m just tired of being sick. I want my life back! Is there any doctors out there who might know what this is, and how I can get better?
*Oh! I also have a severe iron and Vit. D defficiency [I take 400 mg of Iron 2x dailey, and 2,000 mg of Vit. D 2x dailey also] And I am allergic to UVB rays [I break out and get sick if I am outside for more than 15 minutes]
Best answer:
Answer by robert that sounds pretty terrible, and I’m no doctor, but I would say if you’re allergic to UVB you need LOTS of vitamin D…but 2000mg is rediculous!!! hopefully you ment 2000 IU not mg.
2000mg is 800 million IU 2x per day = 1.6 billion IU per day…I think that might kill you, so hopefully you ment IU’s. that being said 2000 IU is a pretty low dose for someone with severe deficiency…
I personally take 2000-4000 IU per day and I have pretty healthy levels.
I’ve read that mid Summer sun with no sunscreen will give you 10,000 IU’s of vitamin D in 10 minutes. But its the UVB rays that you need for vitamin D…the only other way to get D is to eat it or take a supplement. I’ve seen people take as much as 10,000 IU’s of D per day when they are deficient. but the kind of D you take is important also. you need D3 not D2. and it should be in a liquid form. The 2005 physicians desk reference states that vitamins in pill form only absorb into your body at a rate of 10-20% whereas a liquid is 98% bioavailable. so find a good quality liquid. or eat lots of fish. I personally take a all-in-one type product called Vemma http://vervechamp.com/ There are several autoimmune disease linked to D deficiency although research hasn’t proven it to be causal. I would just recommend asking your doctors about Vemma or a similar product, I know many are now recommending it to their patients with amazing results.

Question by TimTimTimma: I think I have been misdiagnosed with diverticulitis. What to do?
two weeks ago I began having pretty intense abdominal pains/discomfort and after 6 days I decided it was time to see a doctor about it. Now let me clarify I have been meaning to go to the doctor for a while because I have some extreme gas, like I probably pass wind in excess of 5 times in an hour my wife says she has never known anyone that has so much gas. Anyways, go into doctors office and I explain I am worried about my pain/discomfort and I was concerned about a partial blockage in my colon because my stools during the times I have been experiencing this pain have been smaller than normal. I also explain though that my stools under “normal” conditions are pretty large to begin with.
So, he felt on my stomach a bit and he started to feel on my lower left abdomen and I felt a slight sharp pain, nothing crazy but it was something I wasn’t sure if I felt anywhere else when he felt. He then had me pee in a cup and checked for blood and tumors in my colon. He came back and said I did not have an infection and that he thought I had diverticulitis and then drew blood to test my white blood cell count.
He gave me two strong anti-bacterial meds he said to take for 10 days and within 24 hours the pain/discomfort was 100% gone. I don’t think my sinus infection cleared up that fast when on meds!
Curious about what it is the doctor said I have I decided to do some research.
Now, I am 25 years old and I have done some research on diverticulitis and it would seem that it is pretty uncommon that someone my age would have this, however Irritable Bowel Syndrome has all the same symptoms of diverticulitis except IBS explains my excess gas where as diverticulitis doesn’t.
I think I have been misdiagnosed, what do you think?
what I ment was he had me pee in a cup and tested for infection, he then tested for blood in my colon and checked for tumors while there.
Best answer:
Answer by justme Diverticulitis is usually determined by performing a colonoscopy. Also a urine sample would not be able to be tested for tumors in the colon. Maybe you should seek a second opinion, with more extensive tests.

Question by rpsfu_83: I am a 23 year old, suffering with chronic bad breath for as long back as I can remember. It has been getting?
progressively worse.I have tried probiotics, chlorophyll, parsley, detox products, oxygenating products from Dr.Katz, changing my diet to exclude meats, dairy.I had also been to a fresh breath clinic where they took samples from my teeth and tongue, which concluded that I have”very high numbers of gram positive cocci and bacilli. As well very very high numbers of gram-negative cocci and bacilli,a moderate amount of vibrios”.They then prescribed antibiotic mouthwashes and antimicrobial rinses like chlorohexadine that did not work (and did not seem to worsen the problem either.I find that the breath has been getting worse with age in general).I did not measure very high on the halimeter, which tests for VSCs.The odour is not sulphuric, but rather is of a putrid nature.I do not suffer from post-nasal drip. I have no cavaties, but I build up tartar very quickly, and was told that tartar builds up in basic environment,as does odor causing bacteria. My oral hygeine is very good.any solutions/help?
