Answer by Samantha Endometriosis can’t kill you, so there’s no reason to be scared. Many women have it and live perfectly normal lives. Common treatments include use of birth control and laparoscopy to remove endometrosis lesions, though they can grow back.

Question by : Anyone know anything about medical practice/research?
I am diagnosed with depression and having pills thrown at my by my doctor which in my opinion suck. He doesn’t seem to sympathetic he listens to me but honestly I don’t think he has a clue what the best way to help me is. I have seen five doctors in total and all of them seem to be the same. Part of my depression and anxeity dissorder is the inability to communicate effectivly. When they ask me “Why are you depressed” I honestly don’t know how to answer that question, and If I did know how to answer that question why would I need to travel three miles to sit in a waiting room for three and a half hours to see ask him for help because I could solve it myself?
This usually leads to the
“you are young you shouldn’t be depressed, old people get depressed not young people” Guilt trip they send me on. (That’s an actual quote) which is a load of crap because up to date statistics say otherwise.
So due to this I think GP’s being the jack of all trades masters of none that they are can’t keep up to date with the best ways of treating depression. Which is not good enough considering depression is one of the biggest health problems in the UK.
I asked my doctor to be referred to an expert which he took as an insult and outright refused. (possibly due to my poor communication skills) So now I’m up s**t creek without a paddle, But hey at least I can chew Prozac like tic tacs right?
Big pharma make a hell of a lot of cash from anti-depressants so they keep pushing the product on to doctors to prescribe so this kind of enhances GP’s frame of mind where they think they are delivering quality service to patients.
I have had counselling and it help me deal with some of the symptoms but not the cause. At least councillors realize they can’t help but can help you to help yourself but still they are limited and due to so many people needing their help you only get a set amount of timetable sessions.
I am fatigued everyday, I have a sort of ‘brain fog’ That stops me being able to concentrate unless I write sticky notes to remember my train of thought (I have used 8 so far writing this), Irritable bowel syndrome (I think?? never been diagnosed) poor skin, poor gums, my tongue is covered in white patches (geographic tongue?) and my nails have horizontal lines down them. Most are a sign of mal nutrition which has got me thinking maybe my fatigue and depression is linked to this? Its kind of obvious if you think about it that if you’re brain/body does not get the sustenance it needs it will perform poorly.
So my question is Can anyone point me in the right direction of any research that might help me with my theory? There must be someone else who has thought of this before me?
And also what are you’re opinions on GP’s / Big Pharma / Depression / anything else I have mentioned? Are tehre any sources where I can collect information about those too>?
Thanks in advance.
Before medication
a. fatigue, fidgeting, numbness in hands and feet (If by that you mean pins and needles come and go ) ,muscle tension, muscle aches, bouts of difficulty breathing (Now that I think about it, feels like I have a lot of mucous in my throat at the back but I have always had this) , difficulty concentrating, twitching, irritability, agitation, restlessness.
b. I don’t have stomach pain its more like a bloated discomfort and I can hear a lot of gas moving around/ and digestion problems, Constant tiredness and exhaustion, Anxiety, Mood swings, I’m pretty sure I don’t have obsessive compulsive disorder, anger outbursts out of frustration, Irritability, muscle aches, unrefreshing sleep.
I also have anxiety attacks/panic attacks. The first one was triggered by stress and all other symptoms seemed to get much much worse since then. I haven’t been the same person since that day. But the attacks are rarer since medication. (They take the ‘edge’ off)
A white coating on my tongue usually not painful but occasional certain patches can be a uncomfortable.
Withdrawal from communicating with people due to the amount of energy it takes, it’s just too much effort and I have to be on my own for a bit after just to have energy to do anything else.
I take hours to fall asleep and if I get woken up I can’t get back to sleep. I have to switch off any lights such as alarm clocks tv standby button etc and wear earplugs because I seem to be extra sensitive to it. My mind also goes into overdrive so I just try to meditate and do breathing exercise.
What makes things worse is a family member likes to come in and wake me up every morning and doesn’t seem to understand that I may hav

Answer by Mary Kontrarry Most health insurances do not require a referral for patients to see a mental health professional.
Find yourself a therapist. Licensed Clinical Social Workers are not allowed to prescribe medication.
Best of luck.

Question by : Anything I eat makesme sick. Please help me!?
I have a health quesiton and I am desperate. Please help me!
Near the end of 2008, I was finishing my thesis and preparing to leave for Australia for 7 months. I started having a lot of stomach problems. I’ve suffered from constipation all my life. However, at the end of 2008 I started noticing 2 new symptoms; 1) Sometimes I would find blood when I would go into the bathroom. 2) I would sometimes get diarrhea right after eating… Even if I ate something that shouldn’t make me sick!
I had many tests done: blood tests, an endoscopy, a colonoscopy, etc, but non of them showed anything.
As I had to leave for Australia, my doctor told me not to worry, that it was probably due to stress and have me some medicine for irritable bowl system to last me a month.
Durnring my seven months in Australia I was fine. I not only didn’t have diarrhea, but I also started going to the bathroom normally and regularly.
A couple of weeks after I came back from Australia, I started working. A month later, I got sick one Sunday. I had diarrhea all that week, so I went to the doctor.I was tested for a lot of things. First the doctors told me it was somethign I ate, and have me antibiotics. Then they thought it was a virus.I was sick for over a month, and I got blood and other tests, yet none of them gave results.Basically, everything I ate, even jello, made me sick. I lost a lot of weight, but my doctor didn’t seemed concerened.
I got a bit better after a month, and soon I was able to start eating again. I would have sporadic diahrrea episodes, but I got used to taking a pill that the doctor had given me that would “plug me up”. Therefore, whenever I took the pill, I would become constipated.
I stopped taking the pill, and was fine for about 3 weeks. I could eat normally, and my bowel movements went back to “normal” (that is, normal for me: I would go to the bathroom about once a week).
However, several weeks ago, I started getting sick again.I can’t eat anything without getting sick. This has been accompanied by panic attacks and agorafobia. All of these symptoms have severly affected my personal life. I don’t feel comfortable going out, so I don’t have a social life. I have a very hard time going to work, and I usually have to get off the train in the middle of the trip due to panic attacks. EVERYTHING I eat makes me sick. Therefore, I no longer eat durning the week; only durning the weekends, when I’m at home. This means that durning the week, at work, I am extremly weak and tired. I’ve gone to the doctor again, but he said it was simply irritable bowel syndrome, gave me the same pills which didn’t work before, and told me to be careful with what I ate. However, I can’t eat AT ALL, and nothing seems to be helping.
I am seriously thinking of quiting my job (even if I can’t afford to do it), because I just can’t deal with this sickness anymore. I just want to get better. Please, someone, help me!
Some of the things I’ve been tested for that I DON’T have:
- Lactose intolerance
- Celiac disease
- Parasites
- Bacteria
- Viruses
- Liver problems

Answer by Robin B I’m not sure anyone on here can give you an exact diagnosis of what’s going on. You should probably consult a second doctor, perhaps a gastrointestinal medicine specialist in your area. They might be able to tell you what’s going on, and/or offer some advice on how to resolve your problem.

Question by Kaleidoscope Heart: DOCTORS: My stomach hurts after i eat anything?!!?
Ok so here’s the deal its almost a month now since i had weird syptoms like: constipation for 15 days… heartburn, so i went to the doctor and he gave me medicines for IBS ( irritable bowel syndrome) but they didn’t work. So i changed the doctor and the new one gave men this new diet with a lot of fiber in it and stuff…. with medicine too to soothe the pain.
So now every time i eat something my stomach hurts like hell and i have this pain on my both sides!!
PS: i’m 18, and i have a ruptured hemorrhoid too so i’m taking ointment and suppositories for it to heal, so pooping is an issue for me!
So what can i do????

Answer by Ick =[ You may have Crohn’s Disease. And before you freak out, thinking this is serious, believe me when I say it isn’t that bad. Personally I was diagnosed in November 2009, my symptoms started about August. I had severe pain in my right side and a large lump. Doctors thought I had appendicitis, but upon undergoing surgery, they realized that I had something wrong with my Small Intestine. Months passed and I was put on several medications. Steroids and Immuno Suppressants. It ended up getting worse, I had two abscesses and eventually had a small section (10cm/ 4inches) of my small intestines removed in April 2010. It has nearly been a year and I’ve been just fine!
In my case doctors were surprised at how quickly my condition worsened, (it usually takes years to progress from diagnosis to last resort surgery!)
Anyways, I’d bring this concern up with my doctor, and after you Hemroid clears up, I’d suggest getting a colonoscopy. (Sometimes stomach pains are misdiagnosed. They might be pains elsewhere). Also, it might even BE your stomach! Crohn’s Disease can be in your mouth, throat, stomach, Small intestine, Large intestine, and even in your appendix!
If not that, have you been stressed lately? I’m the same age as you and I can tell you, I’ve been stressd trying to get into university, work and relationships. You may have an Peptic Ulcer in your stomach.
Either ulcer, crohns or colitis even . hope this helps!

Question by Sir Bartholomew: If you could announce anything over the loudspeaker at Wal-Mart, what would you say?
I think I would say something random, such as “Attention Wal-Mart customers. I have irritable bowel syndrome, thank you.”
What would you say?
