Do probiotics really helped after a course of antibiotics?

request of Mutt & Fro : Are probiotics really helped after a course of antibiotics? Someone told me that probiotics are useful “equilibrium” after you take your system to antibiotics. Are there medical studies to support this claim? best answer: what do you mean? Answer below!

Well, I just started taking antibiotics for strep throat and this is the FIRST TIME ever in my life to take antibiotics at 21 years of age. ( I was blessed with a great immune system I suppose) I am taking amoxicillin and since it is a moderately broad spectrum antibiotic, is it a good idea to take probiotics during the course of this medication or right after wards? If so, how much. I am eating yogurt everyday but it mostly has the acidophilus bacteria and the pills I was going to by has lactobacillus among others. Thanks for your help!

My stomach is a little upset because I haven’t been eating probiotics when I normally do every day (because I’m on antibiotics.)
I’m wondering if I can eat some Activia while on the antibiotics or if it would negate the effects…
the antibiotics are for a bladder infection, not sure if that matters.

I’m currently in the second week of a 2-week 8 pill per day antibiotic regimen. The antibiotics are for an h. pylori infection in my stomach. I believe that the antibiotics are working, but I want to restore my intestinal health with a good probiotic. I selected one that I think will work for me. Is it okay to start it now? Or should I wait a while before I begin it? Thanks in advance.

I have been prescribed Cipro and will be taking it twice a day at 6am and 6pm. I also take a daily probiotic (acidophilus) usually before dinner also at 6ish. Should I continue the acidophilus at 6 with the Cipro or take it a few hours before or after?

I’m on antibiotics which kills bacteria. Should I try to replenish the good bacteria in my body by drinking probiotic drinks? Or is there even a point since they’ll all probably be killed off anyway?
