Question by DOREMEFASOLATIDO,CDEFGAB: Unknown stomach problems… how do i calm down at camp?!?
So, im 16 years old, going to a music camp on sunday for two weeks. i love music, singing, piano. so it thought it would be fun to go to a camp for it. i have been to sleepaway camps the past 5 summers. and those were actual camps (cabins, bugs, etc) this is actually at a college. Heres my problem. I have an undiagnosed stomach condition that i’m really worried about. i get unexpected diarrhea and REALLY bad pain. the other day i was at a family party and started crying, and had to go home. We dont know what it is (countless tests, medications, allegy tests). It has similar symptoms to Irritable bowel Syndrome, to give you a better idea. I live off imodium… which usually works fine if im going to school or something, because i can relax and go whenever i need to… but at camp its a stricter schedule, and you cant just disapear for 15 min… is there anything i can do to help? or at least calm myself down… breathing excersizes or something. Thank you!

I am sorry that you are dealing with stomach issues. the only thing I can reccomend is following a bland diet when possible and increasing your fiber intake. with that you also want to drink water. keep up with the immodium as it will help.

Question by imsobored42242: Will I have to get a colonoscopy?
For three years, I’ve experienced daily symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome as well as GERD more recently. I’ve been putting off an appointment with a gastroenterologist because I’ve been afraid of the procedures I might have to undergo, but it’s gotten so out of hand lately that I’ve bitten the bullet and called (appt in a little over a week). I’m young and I don’t think there is a history of colon cancer in my family (although there is for cancer in general), but I’m wondering if the dr. will schedule a colonoscopy anyway just to check for polyps. Do you think this might happen or will there be other methods to avoid this?

Thanks

Nobody here is qualfied to make a diagnosis.
You’ll just have to wait to see what the doctor’s evaluation turns up to see if he orders any other tests.

Question by sangichan: does anyone have any ideas about what this might be?
i’m 16 years old and have had stomach problems all my life. i was diagnosed with CVS (compulsive vomiting syndrome) and IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) i’m on a the following medications:
-loestrin 24 (for anemia)
-zoloft (depression)
-wellbutrin (ADHD)
-librax (stomach)
-vyvanse (ADHD)
-aciphex (stomach)
-zophran (stomach)
-symbacort (asthma)
-chlortrimaton (allergies)

my stomach has been doing fairly well for the past year or so, then all of a sudden it got REALLY bad. i’ve tried candied ginger, nux vomica, etc… nothing is helping my GI says he doesn’t know what’s going on but whatever it is he can’t help it.
if it matters i’m 16, 135 lbs. and 5′ 5″

some preservatives make me sick…

i have been tested for and and been negative for:
cancer
glucose intolerance
celliakes (however the hell you spell it)
lactose intolerance
ulcers
i hate tried both dairy and gluten free diets. no dice.
the meds were prescribed by a general practitioner, my GI, and my psychologist.
the psychologist makes sure nothing interacts with each other negatively.
i’m currently in the process of getting off many of the medications and am making great progress.
i meditate at least 2 times a week and do yoga as well.
also i’ve tested negative for Crohn’s disease.

Oh my gosh that is a lot to go through at 16. I really and truly hope that it is nothing that could kill you. I hate it when young people die. I hope you get better…….. really I do.

Question by Gage: Feeling of Incomplete Evacuation (Bowel Movements)?
For a long time I’ve always had bowel movements that end in a lot of wiping, and the feeling that even though I’ve wiped clean, there’s still a lot that hasn’t come out yet.

So I’ll start with bowel movement schedules. I don’t take note of every time I make a bowel movement, so I’m going off of guessing here. I would say maybe 3-ish times a week, and most of the time I hold it in for maybe 10+ minutes (Which is a bad thing) but sometimes I just go when I feel the need to.

Lots of times I get the feeling that after I’m done, there’s still some left inside. I’ve googled it and it’s a symptom of Irritable Bowel Syndrome, or IBS. However, this is the only symptom that I can relate to having. I don’t have cramps, I don’t have diarrhea, no bloating, etc. But I’ve always had this feeling for as long as I can remember. And everytime I think of it, I get the ‘unclean’ feeling.

But onwards!
I’ve looked it up, and apparently most people aren’t supposed to have any stool left inside of their rectum or anything if they have normal bowel movements. I got curious and decided to check while showering. Surprised to see that there was some stool on my finger. And this was a while after a bowel movement, so I don’t even know how long that’s been there. It got me worried that maybe I’m not “evacuating” myself fully, and maybe that’s some kind of serious problem.

So my question is, do I have IBS? Or can this easily be solved with just having a healthier diet and using the restroom always when you feel the need to? Or has this just been totally normal?

maybe you should give yourself an enema or something, you probably have like 10 lbs of undigested red meat up in your scrack.

Question by tough life: does celexa cause weight gain or weight loss?
i was put on 10 mg of lexapro by gastroentrologist for 4 months and it did not improve my mental health or irritable bowel syndrome.

The psychiatrist then said i should change to 20 mg of celexa for some time and later he would put me on 40 mg of celexa.

Will I gain weight? I did not gain any weight while using lexapro for 4 months. Also will the medication improve IBS?
chilady: I have Bentyl at home but don’t take it because on internet i read many bad things about it. But i admit Bentyl is great help for me.

I am 31 year old male. It is common for IBS patients to be put on SSRI’s.

If it didn’t do anything before, maybe it will improve your mental health with a higher dose.

I was on Lexapro once before and it made my sadness go away. I felt very happy. Maybe a little too happy at times.

But it didn’t cause any weight gain back then. But I heard it caused someone online to gain weight. In fact, this person said so yesterday.

But yeah. I don’t think it causes weight gain normally, but who knows?
