Question by prettygirlsabombshell: Colon Cancer or IBS? Please help? Doctors/? :/ I’m Terrified?
Okay so i’m 19, and ever since i can remember my stools have been what is referred to as “pellet stools” which i thought was normal till i started reading up on it. I’ve heard that pellet stools are a sign of Irritable Bowel Syndrome. About 2 years ago after i went to the bathroom i noticed the water was bloody. I showed my mom and she asked if i had hemorrhoids and i said idk but i noticed after i changed my diet that never happened again. Sometimes i feel bloated and feel like there is a lot of gas in my stomach which read is both a symptom of colon cancer and IBS. Other then that i have no symptoms.
I’m just really scared and after i read up on these things i started think i had colon cancer because i tend to be a hypochondriac. I’m a healthy weight and have been eating and exercising a lot more the older i get.
My boyfriend and mom have told im just worrying too much but i wanted to know if anyone else had any opinions.
Thank you so much!
Also im pretty OCD about things and am stressed quite often. If this matters lol

pellet stools…sounds like chronic constipation esp with the blood in the stools. try taking stool softners and adding fiber to your diet.

1. See a physician because this can be a symptom of a poorly functioning digestive system and there may be a cause outside of your control.
2. Try yogurt – any kind is better than none but the ones for digestive health or are less sweetened are best – just yogurt and fruit rather than corn sweeteners and gelatin.

Question by 123collegelife: What are cures for a nervous stomach?
I have a nervous stomach and often feel nauseous, particularly when eating. This in turn leads to excessive gas and belching with the occasional feeling of vomit. Not sure if its related, but i also have a very sensitive gag reflex and eating to fast or eating not-so-good-tasting foods can cause these symptoms. I heard that IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) could be a cause but I am not sure. Anyone familiar with these symptoms have any cures or a potential diagnosis for my problem?? I also had blood tests done and there was nothing abnormal that could be causing this.

First thing, see a doctor to make sure you don’t have a peptic ulcer. A doctor can also give you advice on how to treat what is wrong!
A nervous stomach can be relieved simply by chewing peppermint chewing gum or any peppermint candies, if you have no allergy to peppermint. Peppermint helps relax the stomach. You can also try some ant-acid.
When you feel sick take deep breaths and breath out slowly, nausea attacks are like panic attacks so try and keep calm. The fear of throwing up makes you feel even worse and more sick! So try to break the cycle.

Question by Marki: How to help my IBS? Its ruining my life.?
I have irritable bowel syndrome, and it is really starting to affect my life. Currently, I do not work. My fiance supports me because every job I had I just couldn’t work. I was always in far too much pain, and/or frequenting the bathroom. I never knew when I may experience the “backed-up” symptoms. I get severe symptoms, and excruciating pain. I also have severe BLOATING. I cry all the time, and I know it isn’t helping because it puts stress on my stomach. Anyways, I have tried stress management, and noticed zero results. I have changed my diet, exercise regularly, and have tried all the remedies and miralax’s out there!! I seem to find no relief. The dr says there isn’t much to do..but to continue with the lifestyle changes. Well, I am getting into a severe depression over it all and need some answers. I am 20 years old and cannot even enjoy an evening with friends, hold a job, and I feel disgusting. Basically, I am aggravated and would like to know what I can do for my stomach. Sometimes I have such a severe bloating it looks like I am 9 months pregnant. My stomach stays like that for quite sometime, and then I get “fat” remarks. I am not overweight at all.. but now my belly is getting stretchmarks. I feel self-conscious even around my fiance because of this. I have tried to apply things like you would if you were pregnant (coco butter, bio oil..etc) and the stretch marks keep coming when I get bloated. I just would like to know what can I do?? Does anyone else have this problem? I feel like I am the only one, and friends do not even get it sometimes. They think as if it “cant be that bad” …but it is. Even if I can hear other stories and know that I am not alone.. it would help. Thank you!

I’m so sorry to hear about all your suffering. I have IBS too, but it doesn’t sound half as bad as yours. We have something called Equalatin and it seems to help whenever I get a bout. You might be able to buy it online. They are white chewable pills that come in a red and white box. Is there anything your doctor can prescribe to help out? I’ve also found that eating more fiber helps me out. I wish there was more I could suggest, sorry!!

Question by Lady Blue: Colonoscopy – Please help!?
I am scheduled to have a colonoscopy tomorrow. I am on the liquid diet right now (no solid food). I am very nervous. Not so much about the procedure, but the what if’s.
I am 30 and the doc tries to reassure me that he rarely finds polyps or cancer in people my age. The doc believes I have IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) and they have done an upper GI test which was fine, now they want to do a lower GI test. I sometimes feel like canceling this procedure. I had it scheduled 3 years ago, but canceled. Some of my “IBS type symptoms” have returned and now the test is back on.
Anyone out there ever have one? Are they fairly safe? Will my “bottom” hurt after the procedure? Will the effects of the colon cleanser wear off fairly quickly? What can I expect?
Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks

I think you should just go, you will be fine. It’s good to be on top of these things you are young and this is healthy for you to do. There are symptoms of cancer I think you would have an idea. Good luck and just get it over with everyone has to get them sometime.
