Question by chizu69cheese: Why do I still have stomach pains if I am not eating foods with lactose?
I am 19 years old and have been suffering with bulimia for 5 years. Because of my binge/purge cycle and my addiction to laxatives, I developed Acid Reflux disease, GERD, ulcers, and Irritable Bowel Syndrome. I just recently found out that I am also lactose intolerant. I have been avoiding all lactose/ dairy products, but I am still experiencing the same pains that I would if I ate lactose/ dairy. I know it’s not any of the previous diseases that I mentioned, so what could it be attributed to? Thanks for your help.
Also, as a side note: I am NOT pregnant. My stomach pains do not resemble pregnancy symptoms, and I have been on birth control for 3 years.

Question by jr2007: Nervous stomach with a cold?
Hello. I am a person who has suffered from stomach problems for a really long time, now. After a whole mess of tests that my doctor performed, he found nothing and said I have IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome). So, the worst part is that I don’t have appetite and I feel like throwing up when I eat, which is occassionaly. According to my doctor, there is nothing for it, except steroids which are out of the question unless if I am dying, so to say. Four days ago, I started feeling like I was coming down with something. It feels like a cold, but I don’t have all the symptoms. For example, I am spitting mucus through my mouth (it’s clear, not yellow or green), I feel like my head is in the sky, I feel rundown/tired all the time, my body aches (especially my lower body), and I have hot/cold flashes. However, no fever or anything like that. Note: I am a guy, so no I am not pregnant. In addition, my stomach is suffering so bad and I keep on getting nightmares and stuff. All I want to do is sleep, but I can’t seem to fall asleep and when I do, I have a bad dream and get scared. And in a way, I am scared somewhat because I just hate that my stomach is messed up again. My parents are forcing me to eat because I wouldn’t if I had the option until I felt better, but I can’t lose any more weight. Any suggestions/advice please? It would greatly help. Thank You!

Answer by TheSwabbie First, get a NEW Doctor for a second opinion. Something is totally out of whack for your system dude. I felt like that when I had a bleeding ulcer.. It almost killed me because I was bleeding out. My stool had turned to tarry stuff and I didnt put the pieces together quickly enough. It almost sounds like your electrolytes are messed up bad. Get some Gatorade in you quickly. It wont hurt a bit and all it can do is help. See if you dont feel a little more normal after drinking some of that.. I mean drink some of it.. 10 or more fluid ounces. Having your electrolytes out of whack can totally screw you up.. make you feel like sh1t.. Again.. New Doctor for a 2nd opinion but right now.. get some gatorade.. any flavor will do.
I know you dont feel like eating, but you HAVE to… although, stay away from fried stuff right now. Easy to eat, easy to digest.. Rice, Bananna’s (no citrus),.. Oatmeal is good and will help you get some nutrition. Grits .. good stuff & easy to digest. No onions..
Good luck, hope you feel better.

Question by Desiree D: I have a sharp chest pain right over the heart/breast area.?
This pain comes on for a couple months, then leaves for a while. Soon, it returns. I have been to the hospital with it once and they scheduled me for some tests. They all came back saying my heart is fine. I have had more tests since that time on my heart and have received the same answer: it’s not my heart. That’s good news, I know, but the doctors are now giving me varying answers. Could be stress, could be gas, could be irritable bowel syndrome, could be your gall bladder, could be acid reflux.
When it comes on it doesn’t matter what I’m doing: laying down, sitting, standing…it hurts the same. It’s a sharp pain that sometimes feels like it’s kind of throbbing, right above the left breast area. I am wondering if it is related to gas? If it is acid reflux, I do not have the symptoms that everyone tells me I should have.
Any ideas anyone?

Question by : Could this be endometriosis?
My mother has endometriosis, and I’m worried that I could have it too. I’m 14, and I know it usually occurs in older women but i’m still concerned. These are some of the symptoms I have..
- When I wake up in the morning I sometime get really bad pains, almost like period pains but so bad that I don’t want to move or breath because of it. Sometimes I feel like I can’t get out of bed. This happens when I haven’t even got my period at all. It’s definately not hunger pangs.
- I feel tired almost all of the time, but not tired like sleepy but more exhausted and weary.
- It also seems like I have Irritable bowel syndrome, which I think can be associated with endometriosis.
- I have really irregular periods. About 2 years ago I started my periods, didn’t get another until January or February this year. I don’t know if this has anything at all to do with it though. I’m a healthy weight and I don’t do too much exercise either.
- I used to get sharp pains in my back, but near my shoulders not lower back. I haven’t had any recently though so I don’t think it’s anything to do with it.
Do you think there’s a chance that I have it? I’m really nervous, I’ve told my mum but we haven’t talked about seeing a doctor yet.

Question by : All sorts of health problems!!?
For the last 8 months I’ve been experiencing what I’ve been told to me ocular migraines. But I have these “ocular migraines” constantly. I do not get the migraine headache with it, just the aura – but its all day everyday. Fluorescent lighting makes it worse and its very irritating and distracting. My eyes are also very sensitive to lights, I went to a movie recently that had flashing lights in it and it was actually sort of painful for me, and I had to cover my eyes because of it. My eyes are also bloodshot right now, and have been like that for a few days, but I was using old contacts and I assumed that were just irritated or damaged from it, I put knew ones in about three days ago but the redness hasn’t gone away. My general practitioner gave me a prescription for migraine headache relief, but I don’t get the headaches so I haven’t used it.
Also, I have lower back pain and “trigger points” in my upper back. These trigger points my doctor says are what causes my tension headaches (not migraine). I was also recently diagnosed with Irritable Bowel syndrome (IBS). I also have tingling in my calves and feet.
The reason I mainly am asking about this is my class had a guest presenter today, he was a Tibetan Doctor talking about how they diagnose people. So at the end of class, being curious I asked him to check me for anything. They have ways of listening and feeling your pulse to figure out your illness. He asked me several questions – he figured out that I was having sleeping problems, menstrual problems, and back problems just from my pulse. He then told me that I had a fever of the liver and that it could be treated.
This is a lot of information, but I’m just a little freaked out at being told I have a problem with my liver, he told me not to drink, something that I do but not often. I was on birth control but am off it now b/c my doctors believed that these symptoms were being caused by the birth control. But nothing has changed.
If it wasn’t clear for people, I’m asking if anyone knows what could be wrong with me. I was hoping there would be a health professional that would be on here, or at least someone that may give me an idea. I plan on calling my doctor tomorrow about it.
And I was wondering if maybe someone knew something about Tibetan medicine? And maybe what a liver fever means?
