I know that prebiotics feed probiotics, but since they’re a type of sugar, is it safe for vaginal use?

  1. HonA says:

Nothing is safe as far as supplements are concern.

  2. Ellie says:

Prebiotics are a particular kind of sugar which is not digested by our body the way “normal” sugars are. These prebiotics are called fructo-oligo-saccharides (FOS) and are used as food by the good bacteria in our gut. That is why some probiotic supplements contain FOS.
If you want to use a vaginal probiotic supplement, make sure you use one which is specifically formulated for this use. Have a look here for more info: http://www.goodhealthnow.co.uk/products/…
A vaginal probiotic supplement is more successful if used in conjunction with an oral probiotic as well as a low-sugar diet.
    Hope this helps
