I am on the elimination diet, but that could take months to figure out what’s causing the problem. I’ve heard of teas, digestive enzymes, probiotics, magnisium, does any of that work?

It’s very very unlikely that your breastmilk will be causing your baby a digestive problem: it’s perfectly made to be easily digestible.
What gives you cause for concern? If your baby is spitting up a lot, then likely he or she has reflux – this is usually a physical problem (a common one); it can sometimes be to do with allergy to cow’s milk protein that is getting into the mum’s breastmilk, but that is rare. Despite all the horror stories about how this thing and that thing that the mum eats will give a baby problems, it’s actually pretty uncommon for babies to react to things in the mum’s diet.
Without knowing more about why you think there’s a problem, it’s hard to answer more fully – sorry – but I hope things get easier for you soon.

I was put on an elimination diet when I found mucousy blood in my sons stools at 3 months. I was diligent in my diet because I was totally committed to breastfeeding. My holistic pediatrician recommended that I give son probiotics. Yes, it does take a lot of time and effort and commitment to insure a healthy start for your baby and to find a root for a food allergy, but sometimes there is no explanation for the digestive problem, as in my case. He had bloody stools on and off for the first year. Once he was old enough for solids, the problem subsided. He is 4 now and no problems with anything. I know its hard and the diet can be boring but be convicted that you are giving your baby the best start in life. I feel for you.

Breast milk is custom made for your baby so it is already digestible. You don’t have to worry about passing on allergies to your baby from your breast milk-
