Only medical professionals (Doctors, PAs, NPs) can write prescriptions in the military. If the medicine you want is over-the-counter, check with the local military pharmacy. If they carry it, you should be able to get it from them at no cost with no prescription.

I’m not exactly sure what you’re asking. You can take over the counter drugs and they will give you prescription drugs if you need them. There isn’t much they won’t let you have. I’ve been in the military for over 8 years and my medicine cabinet is full. Most of it provided by Uncle Sam. There may be a small list out there of restrictions but I emphasize “small.” Digestion over the counter drugs should be fine.

While in basic training you can’t take any otc’s unless its been perscibed by an army doctor. You’d have to go to sick call and ask for a probiotic. Once you get to your unit you can take any otc’s you want.
